It must be asked: Has a 1 seed ever lost a regional final to a 4? ***

Fresno State in 2008 won regional, won super regional, won CWS

Stony Brook last year won regional, won super regional at LSU. Those are the only two I can think of off the top of my head.

To answer the original question, it has happened only once, in 2006.

In 224 chances before this season, only three #4-seeds have won a regional.

2006 - Missouri beat #1 (and host) Pepperdine in regional final (Missouri had to beat Pepperdine twice)

2008 - Fresno St. beat #2 San Diego in regional final (SD had to beat Fresno twice)

2012 - Stony Brook beat #2 Central FL in regional final (Stony Brook had to beat UCF twice)

Giving full credit. UCA is most likely one of the best #4 seeds in NCAA tournament history.

That being said, an SEC team playing at home in front of 10K with a Super on the line should beat a Southland team (with apologies to BabyDaddy of Cam) like a rented mule.

So, the answer to my question is "yes," one #4 (Missouri) has beaten a #1 seed (Pepperdine) in a regional final. Joy.
