It really needs to be Oregon vs S. Carolina

Kind of a shame Lon Kruger couldn't have taken OU there just one year later. That would really make K-State fans' heads explode.
Could have had the same situation this year if West Virginia had upset Gonzaga and then beat Xavier.

True. Although I guess a K-State fan could rightfully point out that the most successful coach in NU basketball history was last seen coaching at the Merchant Marine Academy. So maybe getting left by guys who move on to bigger and better things isn't so bad.

I'm not comparing us and them at all. I just find it fascinating that one school has had so many coaches that go on to have great success elsewhere. I can't think of any other school that has done that, basketball or football.

Why? You guys are so petty. We suck at basketball, and have the most ****** fans ever. I don't care about the sellouts, the whining is ridiculous.

You know what is petty to me? The thought police on here that tell us that because we have a bad basketball team that we cannot delight in anyone else's misfortune. We're all supposed to go around and wring our hands in agony constantly instead of just doing what sports fans do, and that's take delight in other team's misfortunes regardless of how well your own team does. I won't apologize for it and I don't give a flying crap if it bothers you or anyone else. I am sick and fed up with those who absolutely delight in running down our own team but get sent to the fainting couches if someone dares to take any delight in somebody else's misfortunes. Running down your own team on here is not only OK, but absolutely encouraged, however criticizing anyone else is strictly verboten and violating some kind of line of fan decorum. Something is seriously wrong with that attitude to me.

Exactly. K-State has a very respectable basketball history, regardless of where their coaches have ended up. We have squat. If I were a K- State fan, I would be laughing at this thread.

In general the rapid increase in the woe is me crying on this board is a little pathetic. The negative people have taken over and seems theirs is the only voice that matters these days.

If you don't claim how bad Miles is and the basketball program overall, you are obviously dumb.

You're right, I'm sure Osborne was looking for 13th in offense, 12th in defense in conference, and a 12-19 record in Year 5 of his hire's coaching tenure. Those supporting getting rid of Miles are obviously the dumb ones here, and not those that are making fun of a program that has a pretty rich history in NCAA basketball, including a trip to the Tourney just this year.

I don't think people actually enjoy talking bad about it when it comes right down to it, but the basketball program sucks so freaking bad right now it's kind of hard for whatever conversation is taking place, not to drift that way, and it's nearly impossible to defend so most don't even try.

Listen, I understand, winning 12 games is not fun and it's certainly not successful. But one has to weigh in everything when determining the best path forward. The light at the end of this tunnel comes in the form of a talent level that hasn't been seen at Nebraska in a long time, if ever. It also comes in the form of some inopportune events such as White III's departure and Morrow's untimely injury after back to back road wins in conference. Yes, I blame the team for what looked like quitting at the end of the season. Yes, I hated that a Nebraska team lost to Gardner Webb.

I'm not here celebrating 12-19. I'm not blind. But I also see the potential for a pretty strong turnaround season next year and I believe the guy who brought in this talent deserves the shot to see it to fruition. Crucify me for having an optimistic outlook.

K-State has had some amazing basketball coaches through the years, many of whom did their best work after leaving K-State.

Look at this list - Tex Winter (2 final fours at K-State, long-time assistant to Phil Jackson in the NBA), Cotton Fitzsimmons (coached in the NBA for over 20 years), Jack Hartman (got to 4 elite eights while at K-State), Lon Kruger (took 2 different teams to the Final Four after his time at K-State and had one elite eight appearance at K-State), Dana Altman (just made his first Final Four at Oregon), Bob Huggins (2 Final Fours and one elite eight at schools other than K-State) and Frank Martin (one elite eight at K-State and now one Final Four at South Carolina).

That's a hell of a list of coaches. A bit better than Joe Cipriano, Moe Iba, Danny Nee and the rag-tag gang that have made their way through Lincoln over the years.

I guess you can overthink it if you want. It's just one of those interesting things that 2 out of the Final Four coaches were not just from K State, but one was fired and replaced with Tom Asbury (plunging K State basketball into the dark ages) and the other run out of town and replaced with Bruce Weber. Weber isn't a disaster, but he's a definite downgrade from Martin. Huggy and Kruger on the other hand left for better opportunities.

People are pretty frustrated down here presently given the history of K-State as pointed out above. Coach Weber is hanging on by his fingernails trying to build the program back to championship level.

But yes, the history of hoops' coaches is pretty amazing to say nothing for A.D.'s like your favorite Deloss Dodds and now John Currie who is on to Tennessee.

And don't forget Snyder's football tree. Whew!
