for Memphis to receive a number one seed. Oklahoma and Pitt both go down. Both teams were considered for number one seeds.
That'll show emBriantheDawg said:I am far from upset. Sorry I don't think your team is worthy of a 1 or 2 seed. I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings.

I just think their schedule is a complete joke, and the couple of good teams they actually played this year, they lost 3 of 5 of those games, yet they are looking at another 1 or 2 seed. That is a complete joke.

But you said it pisses you off that they might get a one seed.BriantheDawg said:I am far from upset. Sorry I don't think your team is worthy of a 1 or 2 seed. I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings.

You sent me a text with 17 teams you said you would put ahead of them. I think 18 is in between 15-20. I could be wrong thoughBriantheDawg said:and again, their resume backs that up too. 2-3 against their only good competition. That is just outstanding.
I was interested in how true this was, so I put together a spreadsheet starting with the 2003 tournament. I looked at all the 1 and 2 seeds and where they were knocked out. I'm not going to post all the percentages unless someone wants them, but, in my opinion, the most surprising percentage was that 46% of 2 seeds didn't make it out of the 2nd round. That's kind of crazy. On the other hand, 79% of 1 seeds make the Elite Eight. That number was slightly higher than I thought. Very few 1 or 2 seeds ever lose before the Sweet Sixteen simply because of their level of competition in the first two rounds. So, Memphis will likely at least be a Sweet Sixteen team this year, and very likely will make the Elite Eight before we will get any idea of how they stack up with real top level competition.
If you think it's ridiculous, that's your opinion. And that's fine. But, when you've only beaten 2 good teams all season long and lost to the other 3 you've played, I don't think any team is deserving of anything higher than a 4 seed. That's my opinion.Seshomoru said:I don't know if anyone, certainly none of the more frequent and seemingly half way intelligent people, are saying that Memphis deserves a one seed. So, what exactly is your point? Just about everyone has come to that agreement. Now, I think your claim that they deserve a 4 at best is pretty ridiculous.
Their schedule was tougher than MSU's. So much for that argument.I just think their schedule is a complete joke, and the couple of good teams they actually played this year, they lost 3 of 5 of those games, yet they are looking at another 1 or 2 seed. That is a complete joke.
