It was a fake out. We're wearing maroon tops...

I don't like this at all. Feels like this whole thing could turn into a huge distraction. Pick one, whichever it is, and then stay with it.

Seriously?

They always wear warm up tops for batting practice, and I'm pretty sure changing shirts and playing in normal uni's won't have any effect. That's quite a stretch to think it could be a distraction in my opinion.

So you think that the jerseys were presented to the players as warmup tops? Haha I doubt that.

No I think they knew exactly what they were going to do. I'm saying you acting like it could affect their play is ridiculous.

You think Cohen got them all fired up about new jerseys and then said, "Haha I'm just 17ing with you guys, take em off", right before the game?

More than likely, the team thought they were as hideous as we did, so Cohen said "wear them until after BP to make Adidas happy, and then we'll change into something less idiotic".

MSU could not officially wear the uniforms in a game because they did not come up with SEC logos

It is a safe bet you can/will see the uniforms in Omaha, if the team should advance

I'm willing to bet cash money they fully intended to wear them until they saw the reception Louisville/NC State got nationally and the reception our uni's got from the fan base.

No way on God's green earth Adidas would tweet from their official account a preview of "the uniforms Mississippi State will wear today" if we weren't suppose to wear them. I mean, MSU got RAAAAAILLLLLED for them.

ETA: I rescind my bet. Apparently they didn't have the SEC logo on them. Thank God for that.

I'm thinking the guys probably hated them and wasn't a fan of changing what's been working for them.

They like having fun, so I'm okay with them pulling the joke. Fine with me. But I don't want to mess with superstition; I'm big there.

I hope Cohen went in and just went ape **** on someone, too, for thinking we had to do something like that. It would make my day.

I have a strong feeling, that Scott Stricklin won't be giving these away as Twitter trivia prizes...

Rhett Hobart tweeted like 5 minutes ago something along the lines "I actually liked the other ones..." The thought of him being groomed by Strick to be the AD of the future makes me want to puke.

Marketing people have their place in an athletic department, but people like Stricklin and Hobart just don't get it. Don't mess with the 17ing uniforms. I mean, if anything not baseball.. Draw attention to our university without gimmicks.

So that proves what? Nothing.

Does that somehow back up your ridiculous statement that this could effect us on the field today? No.

I think them wearing the jerseys on the field would have been the biggest distraction possibility today, and even then it would have been minimal if anything. Surely that's understandable. In a do-or-die situation like a Super Regional you would imagine they would want to have as much familiarity as possible.

Having to switch, in my opinion, isn't going to throw anyone off. All they did was switch shirts. It's not like they had to go into the locker room and strip and switch.

It's already been said that they aren't wearing them because they didn't have the SEC logo on them, but you have to believe they were going to wear them. They are CLIMALITE material and the old ones aren't (what's up with that) and Adidas was hyping these today. Cohen is a superstitious guy and I think he eventually got his way too. I genuinely think @mstateBB was actually really trying to make people think everyone liked them and after getting 100% negative reviews (from people not named Rhett Hobart) saw an opportunity to give us a "just kidding".

I kind of liked them, and I'm a little disappointed they wont be wearing them actually if the story holds true. I thought the timing was a little odd though. A mid-season game probably would have been a better time to try these, because I bet the reception wouldn't have been so negative. Even pro teams ditch the alternate jerseys during the post season, because they don't want to have fingers pointed at a potential distraction if the team loses.

I have no inside information, but just from being on campus and seeing Rhett Hobart following Strick around like a little puppy dog, I get the impression. Strick routinely kissed his *** when he was president, especially about the #TeNtS4TiCkEtZLoL thing.

If you're talking about them just not getting it, social media and everything else they've made their #1 priority shouldn't be their main concern. MSU hasn't gained a single fan from hashtags or alternate uniforms, but while they've been doing that, Strick made a questionable basketball hire, kept Bracky, and hasn't gotten been able to spin any bad pub we've gotten from NSD/assistants leaving/looming NCAA punishments, endorsed Rick's Rowdies, tried to make us wear the ugliest uniforms in the history of MSU in a CWS-clinching game... goes on and on.

I just wish we had a sports-wise guy at #1 instead of a fundraiser/Twitter guy running the ship. Again, those guys have their place, but it's like that's all this athletic department cares about.

He's still infinitely better than Templeton. I'll give him that.
