It’s a rant. Please skip if you’re going to be a ***** about it.

Whoever is left....it was a great time to be a Mountaineer.

As a born and raised West Virginian, WVU always represented the best of us. That is why we all threw in with everything we had because we were always looked down upon. WVU always had to fight to crash the party, which is what made all of us love this school, this team and these players so much.

Over the last several years, I have gotten to know several who have risen to power within WVU. Good people I considered friends. I don’t know what changed first....them or WVU. Unfortunately, it was likely a little bit of both.

The ideology of WVU has changed. Folks have strived so hard to be accepted by these entitled social clubs (Pitt, UVA, etc) that WVU has become that which true WVU fans always hated. For a while, I resolved myself to rooting for the teams because that allowed me to compartmentalize WVU INC from my beloved Mountaineers sports teams. After all, that is how I found WVU when I was 10 years old.

That is no longer the case. Someone is lying about the Vic/Martin issue. Did Brown lie when he said he knew nothing? Did Martin lie? All we know is that hush money was given and Vic is gone. WVU of old would have given an honest rendition of what happened, whether it put WVU/Vic in a positive light or not.

I’m pretty sure I’m done with WVU football as it is right now. I’ll still show up to get a laugh. I’ve been here too long to walk away. I will root for WVU basketball hard until Huggs gets leveraged out for being...well...Huggs. Then I’ll just come back to talk....just likely not about WVU sports.

Let’s keep the light on here. What is left of us represent the best of what’s left of what used to be West Virginia University.....it’s fans. We eventually will be forgotten too, but let’s do it on our terms.

Thanks for reading.

We will see if Lyons actually has the backbone to release the internal report. I suspect that they didn’t have enough on him to fire Vic and had to use a buyout to try and look progressive for social media and virtue signal to everyone.. If Martin lied, I would hope WVU would have the balls to pull his scholarship, but Lyons doesn’t have a spine.

Football over politics

But for some politics are more important.

The thing is we are being given a bunch of ********.
It is all manipulation. Attempting to get you to vote a certain way through fear.

Football is real no matter what. You are from a certain place so you have a connection to a state. Sometimes you actually attended a school.

If you look at it through football and remove politics.
You see that WVU had to make a change because that guy could have hurt their recruiting.

Recruiting is cutthroat.
It is a nasty business because you have people whose life depends on pushing a kid to a certain school.
Something like this would have been told to every recruit.
Don't play for WVU because their coach is a bigot.

Politicians aren't going to change your life.
Only you can do that.

So why get caught up with all the ******** and misinformation put out there
They are just attempting to motivate you to vote a certain way.
But in the end none of it is going to change much about things.

If I ever hear a president or an elected leader come out and tell people that they are the ones that have control over their life...I could get behind that.

Have to understand that WVU made this decision based on football.
What is best for their football program.

All this other **** is irrelevant.

This would have been used negatively against Wvu on the recruiting trail. Its the reason Mike Gundy did a 180 on the OAN. Coachs at mid level schools know that the players that win titles are not fans of the confederate flag crowd. Coachs don't have to change their beliefs to appease these players but they don't have to make them known either.

WVU was fun when we were the misfits who partied too hard and actually put tough teams on the field.

Now, as steeler implied, they are trying to wash out our personality so they can feel good about themselves at academic conferences while they suck up for their next jobs.

Just matters how the recruits see it

WVU has to recruit.
Their recruiting already isn't to the level it needs to be.

Everyone complains when they don't win games.
But when the university is doing what they can do win games you are complaining.

From a football POV

He had to go
Not because of what he did was right or wrong but because it could hurt WVU to keep him around

No maybe to it. How could a guy like him be coached? He gets beat out by a more talented player, and there are now more talented players on the team, and off to twitter he will go. He has proven it works for him.

I don't know the entire story behind what he did.
I don't think you do either.

We will see.
Looking at everything and how it played out.
I think there is a better chance that Pitts was already running his mouth.

So the anger should be at Pitts and not Martin

Yet you posted Vic is a bigot and then throw the "I don't know the entire story behind it and neither does anyone else quote"

Pitts always ran his mouth and still does. He ran his vulgar mouth in high school.

I don't blame Martin but I don't see where a coach can now deal with him. Perhaps tuck him in at night and get him some cookies and milk.

This situation has shown me the reason Holgorsen and Bill Stewart for that matter folded at the end of a season. Weak pampered players.

Him being a bigot is what WVU would be hit with.

Not by SJW but by opposing coaches.

Once this was leaked by whoever you had to make the changes

Everyone getting upset over politics and bringing that nonsense in but they aren't understanding the issues this could cause to WVU with recruiting.

None of these coaching staffs have standards when it comes to recruiting.

It is all about getting players into their programs.

Unfortunately sports, including WVU sports have become unenjoyable. They just aren't fun anymore...one more place for people to air their politics and argue. Anyone who says sports bring people together are wrong - sports are a divider.

WVU just treats me as an ATM. The big, billion dollar non-profit entity, sucking taxpayer funding and huge TV contracts still needs my cash...year in year out, so they can give golden parachutes to coaches who committed minor offenses - in order to look good on Twitter.

I laugh at your BS about keeping politics out of this when you just now put politics in it with the reply about OAN and militant democratic supporters of BLM.

You are attacking BLM

I am not attacking anyone.

BLM is mainstream. It is all over sports

The difference between Gundy and Vic Koenning is that Gundy didn't say anything

Gundy just supported a news channel that said something

He acted like he didn't know they felt that way about BLM

You can support our country.

If we head towards war we need every swinging dick in the USMC and US Navy because it is going be in an out battle for the South China Sea.

What is wrong with having blacks believe this country supports then

I support my country. Black Lives Matter is nothing more than a pressure group. No different than Vic being accused of forcing his religion on someone. These issues with the off the wall militant rioters will need to be taken care of before any thought of war with China. But isn't Biden an automatic winner in this years election according to you leftist and your slanted media?

Biden and China are BFF's.

Yup everything is always somebody else's fault with politicians. You can slam OAN all you want. Personally I had never heard of them until Gundy wore the T-shirt. But they are not the only media groups that run with a topic and go with it before gathering 100% information. When proven wrong so any of them offer apologies? No they don't.

Need to start putting God, County and Family in the center.

Definitely not politicians

What ends up happening is in our minds we think we are correct but in reality we may not be. .

I don't think Vic Koenning had any I'll feelings towards anyone.

This is America and we have free speech. So the kids can say what they want but not the coaches? Pitts can hype up the Muslim religion but Vic cant hype the Christian religion? All this is doing is making the kids weaker and society weaker. We just lost the best DC in the Big 12 because he spoke his opinions. Do they not teach kids what an opinion is in school these days? Did Vic tell Pitts he must convert or else? Get real man. This is some of the biggest wimphood the world has ever seen in its entire history. If you are alive today, that is only true because somewhere in your family way way back, a man stood on a field of battle with nothing but a sword and a shield. But now we cant even accept other peoples opinions without boohoo whiney lets take to twitter whaaaa . Our ancestors are rolling in their graves watching weakness like this actually get promoted as if it should be mainstream thinking. I have negative respect for any ball-less girly man who supports this garbage. Grow a pair

Im over the sports. All of it until they earn me back which may never happen. Watching some games used to be a way to escape the idiocy of certain political platforms or lackthereof. It is no longer that. Its politicized and wussified now. You just cant escape these dramatic little wimps anymore. I have zero respect for grown men who act like very young little girls.

Random Twitter account. Doesn't say those people are apart of BLM.

Let's keep politics out of this.

BLM is mainstream.
You don't speak for the mainstream at all. Even a co-founder of BLM refers to herself as a "trained Marxist." Stop lying, as you're bad at it.

"Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors said in a newly surfaced video from 2015 that she and her fellow organizers are 'trained Marxists' – making clear their movement’s ideological foundation, according to a report."

Steel I get what you’re saying but let me ask you a question. Disclaimer.....I know I’m a Pitt grad but I grew up in and around WV and WVU family members. I bust on Big12 but have always liked and respected WVU. I’ll always remember WVU/Pitt arm and arm trying to save the Big East. So my question kinda centers on the University vs the athletic department of the University. Personally I’ve separated the two because of your exact points in your post. The political nature of these universities are borderline unbearable. In my experience coaching staffs look at the academic nitwits and most admin as a necessary evil in a sense. So in my mind I support the teams but don’t give a rats *** about the leaders of the universities. I stopped donating to the general funds a long time ago.

So could you separate the two areas of a university or do you feel like you need to judge them as one?

I’m thinking the kid wouldn’t lie because other players could expose it. I’m also thinking DC just said some old school things you can’t say anymore. Amin knows it’s a circumstance and moment thing so offered a parting gift. I’d guess DC is a good solid guy that loves his players. The one thing I’d think about the kid is he will look back in time and wish he did things differently. On the premise he’s a good kid.
