It’s a rant. Please skip if you’re going to be a ***** about it. Whoever is left....it was a great time to be a Mountaineer. As a born and raised West Virginian, WVU always represented the best of us. That is why we all threw in with everything we had because we were always looked down upon. WVU always had to fight to crash the party, which is what made all of us love this school, this team and these players so much. Over the last several years, I have gotten to know several who have risen to power within WVU. Good people I considered friends. I don’t know what changed first....them or WVU. Unfortunately, it was likely a little bit of both. The ideology of WVU has changed. Folks have strived so hard to be accepted by these entitled social clubs (Pitt, UVA, etc) that WVU has become that which true WVU fans always hated. For a while, I resolved myself to rooting for the teams because that allowed me to compartmentalize WVU INC from my beloved Mountaineers sports teams. After all, that is how I found WVU when I was 10 years old. That is no longer the case. Someone is lying about the Vic/Martin issue. Did Brown lie when he said he knew nothing? Did Martin lie? All we know is that hush money was given and Vic is gone. WVU of old would have given an honest rendition of what happened, whether it put WVU/Vic in a positive light or not. I’m pretty sure I’m done with WVU football as it is right now. I’ll still show up to get a laugh. I’ve been here too long to walk away. I will root for WVU basketball hard until Huggs gets leveraged out for being...well...Huggs. Then I’ll just come back to talk....just likely not about WVU sports. Let’s keep the light on here. What is left of us represent the best of what’s left of what used to be West Virginia University.....it’s fans. We eventually will be forgotten too, but let’s do it on our terms. Thanks for reading.
