I understand the rationale of not wanting to bring an extra defender into the box as part of why nobody uses one anymore. But if the guy that is your fullback, like the two you mentioned, is better than the linebacker or safety that they are adding to the box, then you should be using them because it is an advantage over the player they are trying to defend with.
