Stansbury will NEVER have his teams ready to play games they need to win. You see this all the time with Duke, UNC, and Kentucky... these programs understand the importance of winning the games you NEED to win. This year, you can almost count on 2 hands the number of games we needed to win and weren't ready... almost lost most of those games (LSU, Auburn, Tennessee, Florida Atlantic, Detroit, Utah State all come to mind)... some we DID lose (@LSU, UGA, Akron). This has been a perpetual problem. Stans WANTS to be with the Kentuckys and Floridas on our schedule and believes we can be competitive in those games... and usually we are... but not all the time, and you can never bank on winning these games. However, tonight and Saturday are prime examples of games that NEED to be won, and we have trouble or just can't seal the deal because we play like complete **** and look like we don't want to be there. So essentially, you lose the games you WANT to win, then turn around and struggle or lose the games you NEED to win. It's terrible and inexcusable to be in the position we are in now. We have all the talent in the world and for YEARS this has been a problem... losing a game or more you need to win... but he never gets it. <div>
</div><div>Look at this year... we get embarassed in our own gym by a 2-7 Georgia team... ok, great. A competitor with heart is embarrassed and humiliated and wants to show the world they are better than that... but not this team. We go to Baton Rouge a mere 3 days later, go up 17 points in the first 12 minutes of the game, scoring 30 points. The remaining 28 minutes of the game, we score 26 points, we commit 14 turnovers, and we give up a 23-6 run in a span of 6 minutes, and lose in overtime... much the same fashion we did 3 days ago. </div><div>
</div><div>I'm fed up with our basketball teams acting like they don't give a ****. I pointed out to several people the key moment in this game was when we gave up the alley-oop and had the 5 point swing going from a 15 point lead to a 10 point lead with the Bryant turnover and the subsequent 3 he gave up. That was a key point in the game where a timeout needed to be called... but it wasn't... and before everyone turned around good, we were in a tie game. By that time, our backs were against the wall and we were completely on our heels defensively... no sense of urgency... we jack up contested, bad jump shots. It's unbelievable... and our coach believes we should be competing with the Floridas and Kentuckys on our schedule and we can't get up for a game and play with heart and passion like competitors should after being completely humiliated?? Are you kidding me?? </div><div><div>
