They have a lot to lose if they don't sit him after they know for a fact that he was soliciting money and the NCAA has "recommended" he sit. They will get hammered twice as hard by the NCAA if they continue to play him.slickdawg said:<div>

The big assumption out of this beyond Newton being ineligible is that Auburn paid for him. The NCAA are some vindictive sons of bitches. If they say you need to sit him and you don't then you screw up the National Championship picture and bring the BCS into serious doubt. That would come with some punishment in the inevitable follow-up investigation of Auburn and where the money for the church came from.
