It's finally sunk in how thin we are up front

Sids foul troubles and Wendell's disappearance lately have me concerned. We may need to start experimenting some with hood at the 4 and playing some small ball as a change of pace

He is one of the nations leaders in FG% because his only shots are dunks when he gets a dish from somebody, so his drop in offensive production is really due to the guards' struggles. I had hopes for him to improve, but now i just don't see him developing into anything more than what he is. A big body who can play acceptable defense and can score when somebody creates for him.

he has become afraid offensively. After that rejection by Buckner, it is in his head. He has no aggressiveness on the floor but he did keep some balls alive on rebounds offensively and defensively.

He was never going to be an NBA talent, but he made a lot of progress from his FR to SO seasons, but dropped off after he started having to share minutes with Sidney and Moultrie. He just isn't comfortable out there.

..go check out undefeated Murray State, who plays a 5 guard line-up.

Or go check half the SEC teams, who have nothing up front except a 6'9" project who is playing basketball as an afterthought.

At the high post against a 2-3 zone, with Moultrie down low, instead of vice versa. I think the only reason he is there is to set a screen, but when he gets the ball there, he is a deer in the headlights, can't handle or pass very well, and definitely can't hit the free throw line jumper. He is no threat there and it makes playing a 2-3 that much easier against us. When Sidney is in, he can play that spot. When he is not, Moultrie should be there.

He must really suck

ETA: But riddle me this. Would you rather have Wendell or Steve Tchiengang coming off the bench?

averages even 22 minutes a game. I agree that we can hardly complain about our frontcourt, but we're playing an 8-man rotation with 5 guards and 3 big men and there's absolutely no one behind Lewis. That's a legit concern.

I think we'd be much more likely to go with 4 guards than play Johnson at this point if we were in a bind.

Forgetting that an irrelevant player had gotten in early in the year and being too lazy to look it up has nothing to do with "basketball expertise". For the record, I never claimed to be a basketball expert.

But my point remains the same, we aren't as thin as it seems in the post as Stans could be playing Johnson if he had to. </p>

But that doesn't mean we aren't thin in the post. Just because there are bodies to replace the 3 guys getting minutes doesn't mean we have a deep bench.

than the 96 team or the 04 team. Its hard enough to find good bigs, to ask for anything more than we have is virtually impossible.

had two starters in Roberts and Vincent that could go 30+ consistently and a guy like Lincoln Smith to step in occasionally. We don't have another forward that's played a single minute in an SEC game yet. I don't mean to say that we aren't a good team, but with Long and Zeidaks out of the picture altogether this year, we get small in a hurry, and our small ball hasn't exactly been a strength.

Admittedly, the point may be getting weaker by the game. Starting with Bama, Sid has played 28, 29, and 20 minutes, and probably would have played more last night if not for the fouls and the ankle. But in the same three games, Wendell's been almost useless (0 points and 5 boards combined).
