for the CWS final. I'm thinking UF is going to win this thing. The Big 10 is going to be pissed. Of course, I'm sure Virginia lost today because it snows in Feb. in Virginia.
Anyways, if the SEC wins, I think it's actually a good thing for MSU. It should help us to get elite players especially now that we've finally decided to compete instead of act like a bunch of pussies. It will help Ole Miss in baseball too.
Really, it's getting to the point that if you are a SEC team, if you get to Omaha, you've got a real good chance to win a NC. Virginia is the only other team that is in the CWS that has a shot, and they are no better than the third best team in this at best- I think it's Florida, Vandy, and then South Carolina in my opinion.
The PAC-10 has gone way down. Cal-Berkley is there only because they were in the Cinderella bracket. Arizona State is the best in that league, and they're about to be put on probation. USC is a train wreck right now. Oregon State is solid- but they're not much better than MSU right now. UCLA grossly underachieved this year.
The Big 12 hasn't had a good showing. Texas has a bunch of punch and judy hitters and some really good pitching.
The ACC is clearly the second best conference. Virginia is very solid, North Carolina is very good, and then they had some other pretty good teams like Florida State, Georgia Tech, Clemson, and Miami. They've also got some pretty bad teams such as Maryland, Duke and Virginia Tech that bring them down a little bit.
We're not too far from where the top SEC teams are right now. We should start to see our recruiting pick up and get even better- and we're already sort of starting to see that in the form of the interest from the "mystery blue chip recruit". Now, we have to start to land blue chip recruits and get them into school- Brandon Woodruff would be a pretty good start. But, I like where we are headed.
