Alabama will be invited to one of the made for tv kickoff classics every year. That keeps them from having eight home games every year.

Teams like mississppi, miss state,Louisville vandy, Baylor, Arizona state, Michigan state, and many others are going on the road to mid major teams. It's the only way you are going to fulfill a schedule that does not include teams like nmsu. Heck miss state is playing at umass this weekend. Baylor just played at smu. Louisville is playing at Marshall this weekend. It's not something that just Mitch is doing. Unless you are one of about four schools, you have to play on the road sometime. It's a good trip to get used to travel before conference play.

Very true. Miami played at Appy St last week for god's sakes. But it's more fun when you can ***** at MB for ANOTHER dumb decision.

Good post, but replacing a traditional easy home game with a road game vs a team like So Miss (which by now we should be beating but aren't) isn't going to help.

Support MB all you want.

I think he's been more than terrible and not just in his hiring, but then again I have a bit more history with him.

Nice drive by, usually expect better from you.

brian, you're off base. I hardly support MB, if he left today it wouldn't be soon enough.

Couple of weeks ago MB took heat for scheduling home and home with SM. Fact is we'll be seeing more of that by just about everybody moving forward. I was just pointing out that UK's not the only school scheduling home and home out of P5.

But why Southern Miss? Could we not do a home and home with Morehead State or NKU and just keep the money in KY? I would say EKU but that may be a tough road game.

We have a two for one coming up with eastern Michigan (who is pretty weak). . The reason usm, was when Uab dropped football we had to fill a spot with an fbs opponent. (Uab could be pointed at caused by the bear Bryant family and the curse of the bear). With very little leverage and not many options (all the cupcakes were scheduled for baking) , we were stuck with usm. A team on a high point looking for a power five game and not just money.

The Mississippi State deal with UMASS is similar to the deal UK and WKU had with the "road" game at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough. Mississippi State also plays at BYU this season. They just agreed to a home-and-New Orleans (Superdome) with Tulane, which LSU has done in the past.

Teams like USM have plenty of leverage these days when it comes to scheduling. Gone are the days when they would agree to come to your place for $500,000. You are either going to have to agree to a home-and-home (or a two-for-one like they did with Nebraska) or you are going to have to pay what BAMA is paying.
