You would think out of all the yrs Polk had success here, we would have won 2 or 3 National Titles. When Gene Morgan was drilled by that Line drive against Texas in 1985 , that killed our chances of ever winning the thing and then to fight back through the losers brackett, to have our best closer Bobby Thigpen on the mound in the bottom of the 9th with two outs facing Gregg Elena from Miami --a player that was not known for power--hit a Grand Slam to put us out.
