what would make the remainder of the season unsuccessful for Mississippi State? Discuss.

As bad as we are, 8th should have been the realistic goal. Failing to be in the top 8 is an unsuccessful season no matter how low the talent is or is perceived to be.

We have 3 of the 5 series remaining at home, where we're 3-3 in the league. If we can't at least get to my preseason 11-19 prediction, the second half will not be successful.

a losing season. All we have to do to break even is win six games and three out of four non-conference games. That means winning one SEC series and going 1-2 in the other four on average.

for me, thats the bottom line. People say not making it to Hoover is an unsuccessful season, but I disagree. We didnt make it last year, and we are no better talent-wise and may be worse. Having a better record than last year makes it successful in this transition year.

Starting next season, not making Hoover is completely unacceptable.

If we don't make it, I will consider it unsuccessful. Because making the tourney is what I said before the season would be considered a success. Missing the tourney but finishing above .500 overall would be only a marginal success in my mind. I really felt Cohen would find a way to get to Hoover this year, but now I don't think so.
