It's not irrational to fire Mullen...

think of it like this:

what sec team WOULD NOT fire mullen after the results of the last 8 games given it is the coaches 5th year?

Kentucky?
Vandy maybe?

that tells you all you need to know about what the right move would be.

What sec teams have gotten 3 straight bowls? Mullen needs more money for assistant coaches. He also needs to go all in with dak this year. We need to get back to power football. Tonight was tough, but we started to get our identity back

Agreed about getting identity back. We are in a tough spot at State. We probably won't win more over a 3 year period than Mullen has, so it's tough to fire him because of a bad, but not horrible, season. If you do, you are going to have a hard time finding a guy that says, "Hell yeah. I want to go there."

I also feel that a lot of our fanbase believes that we can just hire Hudspeth and right the ship when that time comes. I don't feel that he will be at ULL long. Some larger school will probably hire him. This **** that we discuss on here is moot, unless we recruit at a higher level. Not Alabama level, but sign more guys that are college ready their freshman year. Ole Miss has Tunsil at LT, Nkemdiche at DT, Treadwell at WR, Conner at S, and Engram at WR that are their best players. Those guys are better than what we currently have. If you argue with that, I feel sorry for you. We have failed to recruit a QB for years and Mullen has had one on campus that can run his offense and he has failed to play him accordingly. That falls on him. We could have gone 8-5 last year with Prescott. At worst case, 7-6. It's not like we had Tom Brady back there.

comparing postseason success is NOT going to prove any points when comparing us to sec foes, but to answer your question, every team but vandy has more than 3 straight bowls....

i agree we need better assistants, but we also need a hc that doesnt make emotinal decisions and get goaded into a 2pt conversion in the first quarter, we need a coach that doesnt run up the gut 3 straight plays with just under 3 minutes while our opponents constantly continue to prove that that is sufficient time to put points on the board, we need a coach that doesnt coach not to lose with the game on the line....i could do this all day.

i agree on the dak point, but dak can only do what the coaches allow him to do, and when you handcuff the offense half-way throug the 3rd when your opponent continues to give you outstanding field position, you have much more than a assistant problem.

do you think dan will go with russell when he gets "healthy"? i do, thats what scares me. dan doesnt see the obvious, and im really sorry to say that he is not nearly as intelligent as i thought he was. we have big problems and its a problem when our hc is widely considered the worst in the conference and his recruiting classes back that up.

I agree. A good recruiter with a backbone would be great. Someone who will say things like its to early to go for two. And it's early lets go for this 4th down our kicking game is struggling. Or let's take a shot deep or mix it up offensively. Or even hey let's decoy Dak and reverse a speedster. Or counter with Robinson, Milton, 284 yards and 4 TDs 5 min left in first half , hell anyone.

That 2&4 yardage comment was an accidental paste take that out of the comment
