From the CL this morning:

<span class="pp"></span><font color="#ff0000">And at least one, LSU chancellor Mike Martin, doesn't expect the legislation to pass.<span class="aa"></span></font></p>

<span class="pp"></span><font color="#ff0000">"When does a tradition become an annoyance?" asked Martin. "From what we've been told, they had some problems with the new rule in the games last season. It's an artificial noisemaker, and people were ringing them during play, which is against the rules."
<span class="aa">
</span></font></p>

<span class="pp"></span>"It may be time for State to adjust," LSU's Martin said. "I think it's similar to a lot of schools who have had to change their nicknames for various reasons. Sometimes you have to move on."

<font color="#000000">17 that corndog mfer.

it's the head of ELLLLLEESSSSSEEEEEAAAAUUUUU, the school that thinks having dozens of drunk coonasses slurring "tiger bait" at people is appropriate for any occasion.

All I know is, the league is going to fine the hell out of us for this year's LSU game.

I'll be honest and say that I can't stand the cowbells but to compare it reasons why schools have changed nicknames (and in OM's case, mascots) is beyond retarded. Cowbells aren't offensive to a certain group of people or 'insensitive'. <div>
</div><div>I find it ironic that he makes the 'change the nickname' statement when the LSU 'Tigers' is derived from civil war brigades.</div>

I'm not sure how they've been affected by cowbells. If they had any sense at all they would have come out and voiced their favor for a cowbell in both hands of every State fan...that they've never had a problem with it. That would have actually been funny. I seriously don't get their adamant stance against cowbells. I'm sure Mullen will weave it into game week next year which should be fun.

Well, if they're annoying, then by all means ban them. And while we're banning annoying things, I guess that means we'll need to get rid of Hotty Toddy, Rocky Top, and every single one of your dumbass fans.

"If they ban our Cowbell, we're gonna fine LSU for every urine-filled whiskey bottle thrown from the upper deck. See? You'll lose your traditions too. It's mutually-assured destruction."

All of the SEC east schools don't care, and we might get a little support from Florida b/c of Mullen ties. We don't play most of them every year so its like "ok, so once every 8 years we have to hear those cowbells. Whoop dee do." Most coaches have stated they don't even notice, its just like most SEC stadiums- loud and noisy. So all the stances on the cowbell issue are political- which brings us to our SEC West teams:

Ole Miss- obviously they hate them. And should.
Alabama- another rival who we upset every now and then. Definitely against the bells.
Auburn- ironically, with all the crap gone on in the last 2 yrs, it looks like the Auburn and MSU leaders get along really well. They support us, we support them.
Arkansas- not sure- but I don't think they care. How many times have we beaten them in the last 20 yrs? 3? 4? What the heck, they probably say.."why not, we're all rednecks here, let'm ring'm".

Then there's LSU- why are they being vocal against the bells...they dominate us. I'll tell you why- they're afraid we're gonna be that *** year!!

annoying? Anyone that has ever went to a game there knows what I am talking about with their fans. Old drunk grandmothers cursing your children like they stole something. It is like getting 85k swamp people together.

...That a presumably intelligent person could make such a ridiculous analogy. He's not even consistent in his statement.

He wants to ban them b/c they're annoying, then analogizes it to om's mascot switch.

was colonel reb annoying? Insensitive, maybe? but no more annoying than every other mascot in the SEC.

you want to ban something annoying ban that hotty toddy **** or whoo pig soooee, that **** is 17in annoying.

if we're going to start getting rid of things because they are annoying, then the game day attendance at Death Valley will drop to about 10,000. Those 17ing swamp people are annoying as hell once they get liquored up.
