It's probably already been discussed, but the structure of this year's schedule blows.

Two gimmes to start the season, early bye week, some normal home and aways, then away from home for over a month with another bye week tossed in there. Ok, rant over. Looking ahead, I think where we are at with this team is bowl eligibility is the only prize remaining. We need two wins. That could come at BC tomorrow. I'll rephrase that. It absolutely has to come at BC tomorrow, because the wins are going to be extremely hard to find. Forget Clemson. That's an L. At Stanford- ok, they aren't very good, but that's still going to be a challenging road trip. Pitt will be an extremely tough out, as will UK, I don't care what their record is. So, the question is, can the Cards muster two wins to become bowl eligible? Two stinkin' wins is all we need. It sucks this is where things are, but it's reality. The defense is a major liability.

If the Cards don't beat BC, it becomes very doubtful that they'll get 6 wins.
Losing to BC and Clemson, you kinda can see a spiral on the way in all honesty. Winning cures all, losing will cause people to flat out quit. I'm worried about the vibes, because Brohm's teams aren't great after a big game. Boston crowd on a Friday night. Will just be a game we could sleep walk, and BC is a team that can beat us.

If we can't beat BC, who cares if we get bowl eligible? Who wants to watch a 6 and 6 Cards team lose to UNLV or Texas Tech in a bowl game?

However, I don't think it's going to shake out like that. Yes, we will lose to Clemson, probably by 7 points after a replay is overturned, but Pitt and UK are going down. Pitt is way over their heads, getting a lot of fortunate breaks in their games. I think they're going to taste defeat this weekend against Syracuse.

UK sucks and unless the Cards have given up and have only 5 wins, their streak ends against us.

I predict we finish 8 and 4.

Man I sure wish I shared your optimism but I really just don't. I never bet on Cardinal sports but if I did I'd bet $500 on UK to beat us and wouldn't bat an eye.

When JB came here he had a rep for winning big games and losing a head scratcher here and there. Well, we've seen the head scratchers but other than Notre Dame last year he hasn't won any big games.. not beating the slapdicks last year has left a dent in us in my opinion..

Well, you got to remember how things went for coaches in the past don't mean as much today in the era of the portal.

Brohm lost three big games by 7 points each, and with a break or two we're all happy as clams being undefeated.

This back part of the schedule still hasn't changed for me. Pitt is better than thought but UK is worse than thought. Unless we continue to lose by one score on controversial calls, we are better than every team remaining except for Clemson.

The three losses are teams currently ranked in the top 10 and we were right there and should have won all three, despite our defensive woes.

I believe we're the best 4 and 3 team in America.

Well, I couldn't have been more wrong about Syracuse. Pitt is having the season Louisville had last season. A lot of fortunate football against these teams. How many times has a football game started off with a QB throwing three consecutive interceptions? A top QB who's been killing it?

Looks like the Orangemen's bye week put their star QB in a funk?

This season continues to make no sense.

It’s adversarial situations like this that tells the character of a coaching staff. There are several key injuries and the loss of Lacy represent challenges as we move into some tough upcoming games, but I expect Jeff to demonstrate how his own influence on this UL Football Program will result in our kids stepping up.

BC will be pumped for this game, of course they get a night game, but the Cards will win because they are better imo.

Actually I see the opposite. We had 3 winnable games to start the season with GT the only ACC school before we played ND. Reality was we should have beat SMU at home. Between SMU and Miami, we had Virginia, which we were supposed to win and we did. Then we have Boston College, which should be a winnable game between Miami and Clemson. Between Clemson and Pittsburgh, who remains undefeated in the ACC, we have Stanford, another winnable game plus a bye week. Thats not that bad considering we could have played SMU, Miami, Clemson and Pittsburgh followed by UK in consecutive games.

The SMU game hurt us bad. We overlooked them and by the time we woke up we couldn’t get over the hump.

SMU was not over-looked; they executed extremely well and were rewarded with a horrible official call. A close game with two evenly matched opponents like this one, advantage went to the recipient of getting that one call.

I was there, I saw it. Overlooked means coming in over confident. I have no doubt Louisville thought they would win this game and they ate us up in the first half. We finally settled down and took the momentum which makes me believe we were the better team but just stalled on 3 offensive drives at the end of the game.

We look at other teams like SMU on our schedule the way other teams look at us… Tough, but a winnable game. At some level, it’s a lack of respect and a distortion of reality.

Last year, we won more than our fair share of close games leading to a further distortion this year.

Based on play thus far, we’re a coin flip IMO between 6 or 7 wins. Eight wins would be a damn good finish.

Looks like everybody but BYU, who was ranked #11 at the time, has overlooked SMU or just maybe SMU is a good team...

What was that analogy? They're 4 points from being undefeated..

To be honest. SMU did not look like a good team at Duke. Yes they won because Duke’s offense is offensive.

No they didn't look good but good teams usually find a way to win... Duke was 6-1 entering the game and SMU did what they needed to do to keep their hopes alive. Can't say we have done the same.
