It was my third one. All of mine were self-purchased. My first I bought before my first game as a freshman in 1999. It got confiscated at the 2000 Auburn game. Bought the second one right after that and the clanger broke off in 2002. I fixed it, but it didn't ring the same. I bought my last one at the end of the 2003 season just before graduation. I downsized the bell too from the largest size to the second largest size after using a friend's bell and liking the sound and feel of it.

was given to me my Sr year in high school by my county Bulldog Club president uncle right before the Egg Bowl in 1980. I fianally had to retire it a couple of years ago after it split for the third time. The first one was from whanging it on the seat in front of me when John Forcade ran in front of the student section flipping us off after he scored the winning TD for the Bears on the play after the Dick Pace interference call in 1981. It was repaired and held till the Liberty Bowl during Croom's time. It split from ringing that time. I had it repaired again and it split the first time I rang it seriously. It's in a place of honor now, battle scars and all.

By the time I graduated the corners were almost square from too many hits to the student section concrete in the late Sherrill years. That's still my primary bell, though.

after I got to State in the fall of '96. Lost it to an usher in Tuscaloosa when JJ ran wild.
Replacement one made it from then until last year, when Iretired it. The impact points werestressedso much that the paint had cracked and was flaking off the bubbled areas.
Note that during that time I had a newer "throwaway" bell for away games....it was seized by a cop at Neyland in '08.
I also have a couple of sentimental bells that were wedding gifts; one from the wife.

My freshman year. Got it a few days before the Thursday night game against Auburn. Got it and banged it on the concrete a few times, to get that worn in look. At the game it was so hot and humid, it literally slipped out of my hand. Haven't used it since. Bad Bulldog.

Senior present out of high school, May 2007. It doesn't compare to some old timer's cowbells, but it has managed to survive absolute hell in college and it has been a part of some memorable victories.

Fully welded from bottom to top. Clanger broke off during 1987 Egg Bowl, hit old woman in the back of the head. Drilled hole in the middle of lead clanger, tied it off, been good since then.

several times and welded even more. It needs to be welded again before Sept 1. Paint is chipped, clapper has made indentations in outside of bell in four corners. Not superstitious but don't want to awaken the indians by getting a new one. I inherited my dads when he died, may start using it when mine just won't ring anymore.

but I did get my daughter one when she was born and I hope she'll have fond memories of it when she gets old enough to understand what that bell means to me.

But there is a guy a few rows in front of me in the middle of section B who has a neat custom bell. The guy looks just like Ed Norton and he and his friends are the life of the party in the middle of the section. Several times through-out the year, he and his group of 5 or 6 friends single handidly (if that makes sense) successfully started the maroon-white cheer through out the stadium. Pretty damn impressive. But back to the bell. His custom bell is the loudest bell I've ever personally heard. It is ear piercing. Id love to hear the story as to how he came upon it.</p>

`Rang it all through college - 2003 through 2007, when it cracked all the way up the sides. Retired it after the Liberty Bowl & got another one. That one lasted until last year when the clanger fell out. Instead of replacing it, I hadmy old one welded back together. The next game, the clanger in the old welded cowbell fell out. Then I pulled a clanger out of one of my wife's cowbells and put it in my old welded one.

So now my wife and I each have twocowbells - one with a clanger and one without. I bought my son one last year the afternoon he was born.

Ibought my 1st one as a student at State in 1991, the Kang's 1st year of rule. I bought it at the Lodge. It's still my primary bell and is much better built than the 5 or 6 I've bought in recent years. They all have cracked and a couple have lost the clappers. I do have one though that's pretty neat. I lost the clapper a few years ago at a home game. I got a lugnut from Tony' Stewarts car at Talladega in there as the replacement clapper. Works like a charm!

...in 1979 when he announced he was transferring from State to TSUN. I was home on leave and took said bell back to my ship, USCGC Polar Star (WAGB-10), which is a Coast Guard polar class icebreaker. The bell traveled with me on Operation Deep Freeze 1979 to the Antarctic and the next year on Arctic Winter West 1980 and was rung in both places. Most of my shipmates, at least those not from the SEC, thought it was a cool as hell tradition. The clapper flew out during the Navy vs. MSU game in Jackson in 1983 and went God only knows where. I managed to remove a large square bolt from the bleacher in Memorial Stadium and affix it to my bell and keep on ringing. The bolt remains there to this day. It's scarred, dented, chipped and the original stickers are coming off, including the one showing Bully beating the crap out of col. reb with a cowbell. If anyone knows where I can find a replacement for that one let me know. I kinda semi-retired it a few years back for a smaller, newer bell but bring it out on occasion for special games.

I had one of the extra large 'clunkers' my uncle gave me on a visit to God's Country while in grade school. It hung with me through high school, college (including bid night, the Burke Masters slam, and the entire infamous Tech-and-10 football season) and everything since. It had a 6-3 "I was there" sticker, one from the first night game at Scott Field ("Come See the Dawgs Bite... at NIGHT"), and a sticker from when we were ranked preseason #1 in baseball (Talk about short-lived glory -- I think we lost our first game or close to it.)<div>
</div><div>I thought I would have it forever, until some douchebag punk stole it from our tent last year. I would love to have that bell in my hand when I met the person who took it.<div>
</div><div>Which reminds me - I probably shouldn't admit this given pending lawsuits, but it did come in very handy during a post-game fight on the MARTA after the UNC Peach Bowl. The guy said something derogatory about State girls so I was forced to defend their honor with a bell upside the head. Disclaimer: I only hit him with the flat side, and just to stop the fight, not to injure the guy... I have hated Carolina fans ever since.</div> </div>

<div>During our home loss to Tulane. We trailed the entire game and were getting blown out heading into the 4th. Amongst the hundred or so folks left standing in the student section was a big ol' cowbell littered with gameday stickers and logos from the Sherrill era. I knew that bell had seen better days, and somewhere deep down in my drunken, depressed heart... I knew better days were ahead. So I took it in as my own, nearly witnessed and incredible comeback, and left the game with the only item I still have from the Crooms tenure.</div>

My freshmens year. It's been repainted several times, rewelded once, the handle chewed by a Lab, and the clapper replaced in '87.

I've found some paper that caninkjet or laserjetthe water-slide decals that we used to decorate them back when. If you guys will take quality pics of the stickers on your old bells, they can be recreated.

One from my dad that he used during his college days. It doesn't leave the house. I used to bring it to games, but I felt safer with it at home after I stopped remembering the 4th quarter of games.

The second one I bought last year after getting one stolen after the 2007 egg bowl and losing another after the 2009 Alabama game. Which is the main reason my pops stays at home.

my brother (also there) sent me down to VanLandingham Lumber to get a big one. Customized it myself in the days before you could buy a customized one. Brought it home, welded the sides, painted it silver, added a motorcycle grip and stickers (including the famous Bulldog Blitz sticker). It was the loudest bell I had ever seen. Unfortunately I lost it two years ago after the Ole Miss game. Now I have one of the small ones you can get at the Lodge.

The side welds broke years later and ruined the ring until I had it re-welded. Probably a different clapper and wire. I think it broke at some point. It has one of the the old flying M decals on the side and is beat up pretty badly.

Seven or eight years back, I purchased a smaller one from that convenience store on the corner of highway 12 and 25 - across highway 12 from the old Clark's Minute Mart location if you are a dinosaur like me.

My first one was purchased for me by my Dad in 1981 before the Miami game. I had just come to live with him that Summer. I remember going to the book store and racking up! Got a bunch of gear. Still have the foam #1 finger, stadium seats and the bell. The bell is in a trophy caae with other memorable Dog items.

I also remember how excited the crowd was to beat Miami. I associated with State cause of my Dad, but that is the day I became a fan.

I keep hearing a lot of stories about lost/stolen bells so I decided to retire mine before I became separated from it. The Bully Bell sticker is now a little dark and worn and there's a nice dent in the side from a hand rail in Georgia Dome after one of the Peach Bowls but she still works great.

Bought it at the co-op, welded a handle on it, put on a grip and painted it up. Built three all told, one of which was a double handle model. Had to use it in 1978 to defend myself in Tuscaloosa after taking a whippin on the field from AL. Three drunk Bammers acousted me and three Buddies on the street. Had to match it to the side of his head. Ran like hell, hit the car running and tore out for Hwy 82 West. Just like the script in CDB's Long Haired Country Boy......

Original paint, but at least three replacement clappers. Still has late 60's "M with the arrows" logo.

Medium pitch; loud as hell. Does not EVAR go to away games.

I went to the bookstore and bought it during my freshman orientation. I didn't get to ring it until baseball season, though, because I was in the band.
