Gross.

I hate raw tomatoes, but I can do a sandwich with enough mayo, salt and pepper to drown away the tomato. I don't like the sandwich but I like the idea of the sandwich.

I couldn't agree more. I love things made from tomatoes. I love tomatoes in numerous things. But, a straight raw tomato on a sandwich or burger or by itself is just a no for me.

Like you, the idea seems delicious and almost refreshing, same with pickles, but they're just not.

It's both better and easier to enjoy a big slice of tomato open face on a piece of bread w/ mayo, than as a proper sammich. Either way, best enjoyed standing over the sink.

Happy Tomato Season to all who celebrate.

This explains a lot.

Don't you ever get tired of being wrong? You need the top piece so it sticks to the roof of your mouth properly. Bonus points if you pour the juice from slicing the tomato over the top piece of bread after you make the sandwich. Also need kosher salt and some fresh ground pepper.

Tomatoes are hot and cold for me. Love a Caprese salad, love a tomato sandwich, a BLT, and salsa but dislike tomatoes on a burger or most any other sandwich. I’m not a fan of ketchup but do like Heinz 57 on a burger. I have to pick my spots with tomatoes.

Need 2 slices of toasted bread, tomato, lettuce, salt and pepper, mayo and at least 3 slices of bacon. Cut in half from corner to corner. The toasted bread helps make it less messy.

Our Cherokee Purples stole the show this year. Since we basically have three growing seasons in Florida we'll probably grow them in the fall crop as well. Our cherry tomatoes last year were producing all the way up to our first real freeze near Christmastime.

I can't hardly find really good tomatoes. The ones at the grocery store have very little acidity, and consequently, very little flavor or decent texture.

Every now and then you find a farmer's market that has some good ones. But it is a struggle to find....and inconsistent.
