Cameron Newton is once again set to announce his college decision. In a back and forth drama that is an actress short of becoming a soap opera, Newton's senior college decision is set to be revealed before ball drops to open 2010.
Cameron Newton profile
Last week Scout.com reported that Cameron would be announcing his decision on Thursday January 31st only to later learn that a verdict might not be rendered until after the New Year.
True to form, Camp Newton has thrown another curve ball in the process and will now stick with their plans to end the recruiting process today.
A call to Newton's Georgia home was answered by Cameron's mother who reported that, "Things have changed so many times."
She politely referred all other questions to Cameron's father, Cecil.
A call to Mr. Newton was not returned, but he did respond to a text message in regards to the details of Cameron's announcement.
"Sometime this evening," messaged Newton.
It is not clear at this point if the announcement will be open to the media or the public, but this time it appears to be the real mccoy and not another fire drill.
After making several calls throughout the southeast to sources close to the situation, Scout.com has been informed that barring a last minute change of heart Newton is expected to commit to and then sign with Auburn.
The Tigers would win a hotly contested battle over conference for Mississippi State who is coached by Dan Mullen, Newton's former position coach at the University of Florida.
We hope to have more on this breaking story as details become available.
