people like the Twoeys. Say what you want about the situation (and as I said elsewhere on here, I don't know the whole story), but I don't think any of us would be taking in troubled children like Michael. And I've heard the idea that they've got some ungodly amount of money is just Hollywould myth.

haven't really gotten involved in the debate much, but isn't one of the reb talking points about the legitimacy of the "adoption" something about him not playing football till he was like in 11th grade or something?

in the 9th grade. And to the other poster, I don't know who Trey Moore is -- what's the deal there?

So, what you're trying to say is a sorostitute from Mississippi didn't teach him everything he knows about football?

Are you saying that book and movie are based on lies?

I don't believe it.

I guess I know now that Touhy gets it honestly as a Reb.

Seriously, did you ask that? Mr. Adoption said that **** during a live broadcast of a State-Ole Miss game.

Yes, Oher played before arriving at Briarcrest. He started out at Wooddale in Memphis I believe. That or some other city school. Either way, he didn't go to class much. He definitely had to sit a year at Briarcrest, and he didn't start playing at Briarcrest until his 11th grade year I don't believe.

you said this...

I'll admit that I would raise questions at first, but if the adoption and the help had started before the kid ever took the field in a high school game and before any scout had ever seen him or pointed him out as a D-1 prospect, then my questioning of the situation wouldn't go much further, at least in terms of the motivation for the adoption.

Of course, our famous friend Destin Bob had this to say.....
The Tuoys adopted Michael in the tenth grade ....a year before he ever played football.

I think he was also quoted as saying that all Mormons were going to hell. If something sounds too good to be true, like the movie tells the story on Oher, it probably is too good to be true.

His dad (junior) was a good basketball player. He grew up in a two parent home in Texas. He did not have an arrest record or any prior history of trouble. Touhy called him a "thug" as an announcer for Ole Miss presumably because of his aggressive defense. I also don't remember Sean Touhy's apology. I've seen things less than what Touhy did called racism.

just a simple advanced search of "Michael Oher" and "RebelBruiser" brings it to the light of day, much like yesterday's "Chad Bumphis Korvic Neat".

No, he's black. You know, like THOSE football players you tolerate for 3 months out of the year as long as they bring you some wins.

But every person i talk to from briarcrest has less than positive things to say about the family as a whole. Could be jealousy, but most of it sounds legit.

Maybe you know better than me, but I don't know believe he played on varsity as a freshman at Wooddale or whatever school it was. He had played football before, but I don't believe he'd played in a high school varsity game before Briarcrest. And I know for sure that he wasn't being scouted, and he wasn't known as a stud football player until after they had taken an interest in him.

No one was coming by Wooddale during his freshman year to see his talent.

Like I've said before, feel free to go out and pick up any 6-5, 300+ pound kid off the streets and adopt him. Even if he's already playing football, your odds of it being a D-1 athlete, much less a first round NFL draft pick are long. So if the Tuohy's were trying to adopt him strictly to get him to Ole Miss, then they hit the lottery. There are loads of kids his size playing football that never even make it to the D-1 level, much less start in the SEC, become an All-American and get drafted in the first round.

There aren't loads of people his size, period. So again, you are full of ****. The odds are long against ANYBODY to make it in a competitive market. But you are doing nothing but spinning. Just learn to shut the hell up, man.

most all of us thought his constant postings were 75% complete fabrications of the truth but this just proves it for a fact. He has preached on this board and on the Ole Miss board anytime Oher was brought up that he knew for a FACT that Oher never played organized football before he was bought adopted by the Toeyshes..

it is HILAROUS to me that Oher basically calls out the entire fanbase last night by saying he was a football player before this whole thing happened. I had ignored it before but the whole sports agent bringing him to the families attention has more credence now...
