I've grown to like Andy Kennedy, anyone else?

Sure he's got the whole 'International Incident' baggage and he's sort of Rick's whipping boy but I've grown to like him. He always gives good qoutes and is very complimetary. And I feel sort of bad for the guy. He's at a School that has not been a powerhouse in Basketball and up until recently not had a ton of fan support. And of course he has to play in the Tad Pad. I also feel like he's actually putting together a decent team. Kendrick and Summers are going to be good for them. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying to put him on Coach34's list of potential candidates but he's grown on me.

He said this after the game last night;

"Everybody knows how talented Renardo Sidney (14 points, 7 rebounds) is, but nobody really understands how big he is," Kennedy said. "Our Demarco Cox is probably one sandwich shy of 290 and he looks like a child next to Sidney."

There are some other good qoutes from the CL this morning.

Still has failed to hire a quality bench coach to get him over the hump though.

He recruits talent that's as good as any we've ever had, yet he can't get them to the dance. I'm not saying we have lottery picks, because we don't, but every year with him for the most part (other than the ACL year), we've had enough talented pieces to make the dance as an 8-10 seed with some quality coaching.

We don't know how to run an offense though. We don't play great team defense. We're good defensively this year mainly because we have athletic shot blockers in the post that can help us make up for break downs in other areas.

All in all, he's an average coach that's good at finding and bringing in quality players. When I look at our roster and who we've brought in, and who we're bringing in, I don't see much changing. We're still on track to have enough pieces but just enough holes every year that Kennedy will not be able to coach his way around. If we keep him another 5 years, and for all I care, why wouldn't we, we'll have another 5 NIT appearances. He's one of the most consistent coaches in the country. You know what you're going to get. It's not going to be pretty or fun to watch, but it's going to be enough wins and resume to get you to the NIT.

..I will position myself as his biggest advocate.

But if he pulls a Mullen & begins beating us on a regular basis, I will be forced to question his relation with Jesus Christ.

I'd say Kennedy is a poor man's Stans with a little more consistency.

The main difference is the talent Stans pulls is better overall than what Kennedy pulls, but both underachieve with what they have, and Stansbury tends to be more erratic, taking some bad losses and then going on hot streaks, that sometimes lead to higher highs and lower lows. Kennedy seems pretty even keel every year.

You look at our resume most years and we'll have maybe 2-3 bad losses and around 2-3 quality wins. Very little up, very little down. Just NIT material.

Stans will lose to a couple 150+ RPI teams out of conference and then go 12-4 in league play. I said a year ago, in jest I might add, that I felt sorry for MSU basketball fans because you never know if you're going to the NCAA tourney, the NIT, or if you'll have a melt down and miss everything. At least we know where our season ends every year.

Seriously, I don't get up or down at all with our basketball team anymore. Even when we had a decent start to the year, I didn't change my expectations, nor did I watch more than to check on a score occasionally. I've seen the story play out enough to know how it ends, so it's not worth fretting over. That said, I do still get into the bubble process, and I enjoy following our resume, because I like the statistical portion of that process. I don't enjoy watching the games, but I enjoy watching resumes.

He is only a threat to us about every 5-6 games. Never really a threat to us at home. You can bet Ole Miss will hang in until the end of most games and find a way to lose. Embarrassed the University once or twice. A regular in the NIT. He has them in exactly the spot I want them to be.

I thought the part about not getting them to the dance should have cleared it up.

/no, you d-bags. This isn't me saying I think Rick is the greatest coach that ever walked the face of the earth. But, c'mon. He has done FAR more at MSU than Kennedy has at Ole Miss. Not even comparable. Stansbury is so much better than Kennedy it's ridiculous.

In all seriousness I thought it was classy what he said about Dee Bost after the game. I also thought Stansbury's quote was kindof dickish

He recruits well for what he has to work with and his guys usually play hard if not smart. Kind of hard to hate on a guy whose *** you kick regularly.

MSU fans when it comes to basketball. You basically just said you would rather have a team that is consistently not making the dance, than to pull for a team that has a chance to be great every year or NIT bound. You said there are some years where we don't make ANY postseason, but how many times has that happened in Stans' tenure? Seriously, I am hoping somebody can tell me how many times we have not been to the dance or the NIT, can't be many.

So basically, I just wanted to point out how stupid that sounds. I guess everybody on here is just used to you and your spin. But to act like there is anything to feel sorry about our bball program is absurd. Dispite the stupidity this board goes through after Every single loss, there are only about 30-40 teams roughly in the country that wouldn't change places with our bball program over the last several years.

The reason our fans like Kennedy is the same reason Ole Miss fans liked Croom....because Kennedy can't beat us but once every 4 years. If y'all were whipping our ***, it wouldn't matter what kind of compliments he was giving our team.

Just sayin

Here is what I said (highlighted area to help you out):

I said a year ago, in jest I might add, that I felt sorry for MSU basketball fans because you never know if you're going to the NCAA tourney, the NIT, or if you'll have a melt down and miss everything. At least we know where our season ends every year.

I'm guessing you either skimmed over that, or you don't know the meaning of the word "jest". Hint: It's not a typo for the word "just".

Someone makes a post about their respect for Kennedy and how they've grown to like him and you show up. I remember your comments about how you "feel sorry" for State fans because at least you know what you’re getting. I don't think there is a person on this board that needs your pity or pseudo-pity which ever you want to call it today. There is no way you intended any of that to be sarcasm.

There really are some ignorant *** people that post on here and haveposted on here for a long time......but I swear, you have got to take the cake.
