I've watched the Byrne video, and I have read his comments....

....once again, Byrne has handled all of this flawlessly to this point. I realize that the big thing is the hire, but great job so far Greg. I have sky high confidence in our leadership.

Byrne may fail miserably here (I don't think he will), but the sumbitch won't accept mediocrity and I commend him for it. He actually believes we should constantly strive to improve and win. There are too many people at MSU who believe we should be happy with the average looking girl. Hell, Byrne wants to screw the prom queen. I like him.

The man went over a 'Legend's' head and hired who he wanted and who the MSU faithful wanted, then 6 months later has the dubious position of having to can the first black head coach in SEC history and you say he's 'scared to death'. Sorry if I didn't catch your sarcasm here, but Greg Byrne most certainly has balls of steel.

So far, Byrne has removed the mediocrity from our athletic department - Polk and Croom. Did he piss in your Cheerios? Sleep with your wife? Kick your kitten? Fire your favorite coach?

I see this hire being completed before the SEC Championship Game. Hopefully sooner. With recruiting emphasis needed, we do not need Rocky being in charge.

Both of you just LOOOVE being patted on the head by our rivals, called "a good dog" and see us win 14 games in 5 years. The 1990's must've pissed you off, what with us beating Beating Alabama, Auburn, Texas, and Mississippi like rented mules.

Is the liquor and food REALLY that good at opponent's tailgates?

fire everybody, blah blah blah. Instead, he did what was right. What a true AD should do. What 'should happen' hasn't always happened if you've noticed in years' past with the old regime. GB has shown he has the balls to do what needs to be done and now we'll see if he can get the right guy in here. Time will tell, but I am truly impressed with what has transpired in our Athletic Department this past year. 2008 has been great to Mississippi State University. No questions asked.

He let them name the athletic academic building after LT. Other than that, Byrne is a God.

there is no 30something anywhere that is remotely qualified in professional experience to take on a job as extensive as the one of AD at any major university.

Are you on crack? He directed fundraising at two Pac-10 schools and was an assistant athletic director at another SEC school.

Try again, dubmass.

but what has he done right? an easy hire in the baseball arena, and a resignation in football made his job easier. but the reality is, i never felt he was qualified for the job in the first place. so constanza is impressed with his fundraising experience, i'd hardly say that, honorable as it may be, qualifies anyone for the position of AD.

That's exactly what happened. Croom balked on cleaning house.

As I said, Croom gave him no choice.

one public move being selling the courtside seats for 6K. Thought that was an outstanding idea.

And if LT was still our AD, we would have Raffo and Croom.

Seriously? I really thought you were going to say that he was a prick or that he fired one of your relatives. But you don't like him because he's too young for the job?

Considering the job he's done in his first year on the job, I think it's fair to say that he's plenty old enough and experienced to handle the position.

he only had to tell the most legendary figure in school history to go to hell.

He only had to put pressure on the 2007 SEC coach of the year to force this situation
Basketball practice facility
New Video Board
More B.C. members
Moving the La Tech game next year to position us to have 7 games more years than not
Bulldog Club Rewards program
Holding a John Cohen presser in Starkville and in Jackson

that's all I can think of though

who said he had no relevant experience. If you are arguing that fundraising isn't relevant experience for an athletic director, then you are dumber than I thought. And I guess being assistant athletic director isn't relevant either?

everyone knows you're still angry about the fat jokes on the band members 20 years ago and that you're dealing with morbid obesity in your own personal life. if you want, i'll set you up a workout schedule and diet all free of charge to help you reach your weightloss goals.

First of all, I don't blame him for being at least a little nervous in front of the cameras for one reason: IF he says the wrong thing, it could royally screw up MSU. He has to be very careful about what he says to the media.

Secondly, if it were not for Greg Byrne, MSU baseball would be dead with the hiring of Tommy Raffo and Ole Miss would get WAY ahead of us in that sport and then we would have to listen to the typical BS of how Croom was put in a bad position and our players have class, and if given 20 years, he will turn it around.

The ONLY thing Byrne has done that I don't particularly care for is playing Jackson State in football next year, but geez, no one we hire at AD is going to make everyone happy ALL the time.
