But Banks and Slay have had the opportunity to come in behind someone. I'm not trying to defend the Jets or Milliner, I just think it's two different situations between the two. The Bucs and Lions signed some vets to start, and both at some point in the season have started over them... but they weren't asked from day one to go out there and beat the Megatrons of the NFL (interesting fact, Banks picked a tipped pass off Megatron... but he wasn't the one covering him).
Banks is going to have a good career and at this point could easily have a better career than Dee, but I think going back 32 of 32 teams would have picked Milliner first. I'd say the majority of Pro Bowlers each year weren't 1st round picks, so it's not a knock, but Dee demonstrated a higher ceiling at his short stay in Tuscaloosa and at the combine.
