I have been a Jets fan since their inception. They finally have a chance to do what they did in 1968-1969 and they are <17>ing it up. They NEED to sign Revis NOW. If they let this opportunity go away this year, they are making a huge mistake. Opportunity is fleeting in the NFL and you need to pay the best cornerback in the league when he deserves it.

They are already questionable about "taking care" of their players. Thomas Jones gives them solid performances for multiple years. When it was time for him to get a 2 million dollar roster bonus they let him go and try to re-sign him just to avoid paying him what was in his contract. Leon Washington was their only homerun threat and performed well for multiple years. He was in negotiations with them and deserved a contract extension and they dragged their feet while he plays out his final year. He unfortunately breaks his leg and they don't even try to bring him back. They let him go as soon as he is healthy.

They have proven to players that they have to get the money when they can because the Jets will not "take care of you" when it is time to do so. They have a new stadium with an influx of PSL money and they are not willing to take their shot.

I'm buying. There's no way the best CB in the league takes a year off, even if he doesn't get his money.

but it is one of those negotiations that will leave a bad taste in the mouth and effect the future of the team.

of being a little tight I do think that they need to get Revis signed. I was pretty shocked at the owners comment that Revis might even play this year. Probably negotiation tactic but damn, take care of "ya boy"

everyone's a critic when it's not their business they're running.

Titans fans up here are always bitching about salary **** and letting people go. Now, I don't like the route the go about doing so (i.e. McNair and more recently Bullock), but for the most part that's really none of my business if they win football games.

Obviously it is not out there what the offers and counter offers are. I would rather the Jets pay Revis 40 million for a 2 year contract and take their shot this year than fight to have him sing a 4 year 40 million dollar contract.

Fiscally the 10 million per year might be a better long term plan, but there are no real long term plans in the NFL; especially with the CBA in the current flux state it is in. I bet the 49er fans are happy that their ownership mortgaged the future to give them those 4 superbowls. Even though they have been in bad shape trying to straighten the finances out for awhile now.

M&M did a song parody this morning using Chicago's "If you leave me now" and changing the lyrics to "Don't screw Revis now".

It brought the funny.

When he drafted Joe Namath, he deliberately paid him a large salary. Why? Because he wanted Namath to know that he was a star and that you don't lowball the best.
