Noticed in the box score (didn't see the game) that Johnson only played 8 minutes, didn't score, no rebounds, no assists. I read that coach was expecting him to step up. As a freshman, he may not be ready.
Man were BG and Mo even at the game? I seen a couple of shaqtin a fool moments from BG. I love em thoHe was not good, particularly on defense, in his 8 minutes, third worse plus minus on the team behind BG and Mo (both equally bad). He needs time if he's going to be a PG, doesn't seem like a natural fit as a 1 at all. One day JJ will be great, he's just not progressing at near the same speed or level that his fellow freshmen Moreno is. And that's okay, some guys take longer but have a higher ceiling.
It’s mental. I believe wherever he suits up next year he will have more confidence even from limited action this year and will ball out. Maybe not a star next year but much improvement getting used to the college game. Don’t expect him to be a four year player. He’s not good. I don’t know why people can’t accept that. I’m not saying he won’t be or can’t be, but he’s not good at all right now.
No did have a big block and set a massive screen that freed Chandler for that wide open threeMan were BG and Mo even at the game? I seen a couple of shaqtin a fool moments from BG. I love em tho
He’s not strong enough, he hasn’t had enough time to really get the college game down. He doesn’t pass much, but I’d really like to see him worked in, but we suck so bad from half to half it’s impossible right now.zHe’s not good. I don’t know why people can’t accept that. And you know this how? I have a hard time believing that Dennis's son, Alvis grandson doesn't work hard. The difference between him and MM is that the latter was not expected to play much and worked his *** off this summer to get stronger and is playing. JJ expects to play but did not do the work to get his body ready for this level. He simply can't handle the physicality.
And that team will realize he can't dribble, defend, or pass the ball.He will transfer at the end of the year, and go to a team that runs a higher speed offense.
Plays scared. He needs to get bloodyNoticed in the box score (didn't see the game) that Johnson only played 8 minutes, didn't score, no rebounds, no assists. I read that coach was expecting him to step up. As a freshman, he may not be ready.
Isn't JJ a 2 anyway? Sometimes you can't make that move with a kid. I mean he may be able to make the conversion, but has he ever played point at any level? The difference between him and MM is that the latter was not expected to play much and worked his *** off this summer to get stronger and is playing. First did not earn any more time, and the guy he usually subs in for was hot in the second half and Pope could not afford to take in out being that hot.Noticed in the box score (didn't see the game) that Johnson only played 8 minutes, didn't score, no rebounds, no assists. I will say he shows up against the weak competition but has not shined at against power 5 teams at all. He’s not good. I don’t know why people can’t accept that. I’m not saying he won’t be or can’t be, but he’s not good at all right now.
I agree. He was pretty rough last night. He needs to quit pressing so much.He was not good, particularly on defense, in his 8 minutes, third worse plus minus on the team behind BG and Mo (both equally bad). He needs time if he's going to be a PG, doesn't seem like a natural fit as a 1 at all. He really doesn’t look for the open teammate. He seems to be hellbent on getting his own highlight reel, instead of doing what’s best for his team to actually win. He’s not strong enough, he hasn’t had enough time to really get the college game down. He doesn’t pass much, but I’d really like to see him worked in, but we suck so bad from half to half it’s impossible right now.z
I can see him at NKU as a lead scorer, filling it full in an uptempo attack. He will transfer at the end of the year, and go to a team that runs a higher speed offense.
Likely.Someone posted the other day North Carolina for Jasper.
He will be a contributor at a high level school. He is very talented, we just don't have a coach that can get it out of freshmen.I can see him at NKU as a lead scorer, filling it full in an uptempo attack.
I saw him play in several all-star games and saw him as a mid-major talent as a scorer. He needs to be able to do a lot more than shoot. He will be a contributor at a high level school. He is very talented, we just don't have a coach that can get it out of freshmen.
That’s an understatement. He’s a pure wing who really should never ever be used at the point. He needs time if he's going to be a PG, doesn't seem like a natural fit as a 1 at all.
I doubt the problem is confidence. At least he certainly has no fear of taking the shot. The dude can’t wait to jack it up every chance he gets. It’s mental. I believe wherever he suits up next year he will have more confidence even from limited action this year and will ball out.
He’s not shy for sure lol. I just don’t think he’s comfortable yet. Whatever it is I am in agreement he isn’t ready right now. I still think you give him minutes for the other guards to stay fresh at least. He’s not as bad as some made it seem imo. Game will slow down for him hopefully.I’m not sure the problem is confidence. At least he certainly has no fear of taking the shot. The dude can’t wait to jack it up every chance he gets.
But he plays nearly no defense. And doesn’t seem to understand at all when he should be passing the ball to his open teammates instead of shooting. Those aren’t really confidence problems.
He has the best handles on the team yet can't see the floor. His next coach will play him.I saw him play in several all-star games and saw him as a mid-major talent as a scorer. He needs to be able to do a lot more than shoot.
I agree he has zero court vision. He has the best handles on the team yet can't see the floor. His next coach will play him.
This is exactly what it is. He didn’t do anything to get stronger, from what I can see. He looks like a middle schooler out there. Really sucks, because we could use him right now. Need him to help the team. Oh well. The difference between him and MM is that the latter was not expected to play much and worked his *** off this summer to get stronger and is playing. JJ expects to play but did not do the work to get his body ready for this level. He simply can't handle the physicality.
