for the next coach. I'd hate for him to go out while dumbo is still running us into the ground.

but I bet Jack hates Croom worse than we do. I can see him cussin' the day Croom was born on the ride back to Tupelo.

when the old Jew and the black guy get together every Sunday...watch the body language. Or more like Jack running a pawn shop and this guy comes in trying to pawn something, and Jack not convinced that any of it is legit...has to ask a lot of questions and ****, and the guy is just plain evasive, and Jack can't get a straight answer. Anyway, he takes the goods, but doesn't give the guy anywhere near what he wants, because it's junk.

....but they film that shortly following the game every Saturday, after the post-game press conference is over. So Jack is only somewhere between 30-45 minutes separated from being on the air watching Croom's most recent product when he sits down next to him.

How much restraint do you think that takes?

God didn't make me the football announcer for MSU.

"Well, Coach, here's the 4th and 1. I guess you could have given the ball to Dixon, have Carroll sneak it, give it to Hoskins....or MAYBE a play action pass 20 yards downfield to McRae. THAT sure fooled them."

A heck of a lot, if it is indeed filmed that soon after the game is over. Imagine, Jack is likely still drunk and wanting another smoke while Croom rambles on and on about the players not executing on this play and that.

He's a cigarette-smoking dude. Always surprised he doesn't go ahead and smoke on the show.

Bear Bryant and plenty others smoked on the sideline. Looks like Jack could be grandfathered in somehow.

with Hebrew quality suffering that masquerades as a legitimate football program. Only a Jew can religiously maintain devotion to a standard of bereavement, downtroddeness, pain and torment spanning 5 and one-half decades and somehow convince us that he appreciates it as a blessing; that he enjoys it. Only a Jew is infused in his DNA with the other-worldly capacity to methodically, consistently, rhythmically, casually, and professionally watch futility writ large before his tired eyes, knowing that the more things change, the more they stay the same, and somehow summon up the fortitude to make us, the loyal listeners, look forward to hearing him one more time.

Here's to you, Jack Cristil! May the G_d of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob make his face to shine upon you and bring you peace.

....with Croom's decision to do his coach's show after the game, it means he's not sitting there watching and commenting on the replays. That's all put together later, along with the Jim Ellis interview with a player and the spotlight on something else MSU-related.

Just looking at the La Tech edition of the coach's show, Croom and Jack were on camera together for a total of six minutes and 45 seconds.

It just won't be the same when Cristil is gone. I really enjoyed listening to him on Saturday. I haven't listened to a State game on the radio from start to finish in a while, and I just assumed he would be slow or show signs of slipping, but I didn't notice any problems so hopefully he can keep going.
