What are your thoughts on when Jack will retire and who the replacement might be? Who would you choose? Will Matt Wyatt eventually be in the booth in some capacity for football?

The OC and OL coach have to work closer together than anyone...i'm really excited they have been together that long - Coach34 discussing the hiring of John Hevesy (Hevesy and Koenning have never worked together).
Don't you think this quote was more intended for Mullen and Hevesey than Koenning and Hevesey? I mean, I am all for piling on Peaches when he says stupid things, or anyone for that matter, but he has said things faaaaaaaar dumber than this.

I think he is far and away better than your average Jefferson Financial Pilot guy. I'd love to have him & Jim Ellis in the booth. Probably give play by play to Ellis and let Wyatt do color.

Am I the only one here that hates Jim Ellis' voice? When Jack calls it quits I think Byrne should pull the plug on Ellis also.

opinion.. admittedly Jim Ellis seems to be far more interested in baseball than either football or basketball, and he may be one of the most knowledgable baseball announcers at any level. I'd like to see him continue as the baseball announcer and I do believe Wyatt would do the color role in football very well. As for Jack, he will never be "replaced" due to his uniqueness, but maybe the Ninja is searching for someone to take Jack's role as I type this.

There is no radio announcer alive who I would rather listen call a baseball game. But as far as the analyst role on football and basketball, both he and Steve Ellis bring nothing to the table. I don't know about Jim as football play by play. I think I would have to hear it to have a feel for what it would be like. I would imagine Jack's departure is something that is quietly being talked about. It would not shock me to see Jim take on PBP duties with Wyatt in the booth as the analyst for football and Power or some other former player/coach for basketball. And unless he wants some help, Jim doesn't need anyone for baseball.

Jim is actually very good at play by play for football .... having heard him do Starkville High School for dozens of years

Jim is miscast in the analyst role because Jack is missing so much in his old age....essentially our football broadcast team is two play-by-play men, because Jack isnt as smooth as he once was

If giving him a chance to be an analyst only, Jim might actually be pretty good

Either way, you will see Jim replace Jack when it is time and there are several good analyst choices (Matt Wyatt for one) out there

Actually I think his statement is closer to the truth than you're giving him credit for. Peaches says enough stupid things already, but I won't fault him on this one. I fully expect Koenning to be little more than a figurehead.
