Just saw this fan post on the NEMS article about how much LSU sucks:

From Jack Cristil's daughter on FaceBook: Due to health issues(
beginning of dialysis), he has made the decision that the game tonite
will be his last. I hope with all my heart and soul, we win tonite. I
want to hear him say "wrap it in maroon and white" one last time. To you
he will always be the Voice of the MSU Bulldogs. To me, he is Daddy...

I too hope to hear "wrap it in maroon and white" on Jacks last game. Jack is a legend and will be deeply missed.

Anybody know more about this?

This sucks. We knew the day would come, but tried to pretend it wouldn't.<div>

If true, tonight is going to be a tough game to listen to. All of us knew the day was coming but it will be tough to listen to a State game and not hear him behind the microphone.

physically right now . A couple of weeks after he starts treatment he`s should feel a lot better, particularly the day after each treatment. Maybe he`ll change his mind after he get`s to feeling better.

Probably a less demanding schedule. Get a replacement groomed over the fall to do the coaches' shows and basketball. I want him to go out with another bowl game.

with the game being the center of attention and never ever doing anything to draw attention to himself.

Honestly, I'd rather tonight be his last, because I like our chances against LSU a lot better than I do against UT. I'd like him to go out as the winner he is.

If this is it, he picked two great football games to be his last - 31-23 and 52-14.

Is he really really bad off right now, health-wise? Just kind of seems odd that right at the end of basketball season, with only a few games left at best, he can't finish the season and ride off into the sunset. I know he's getting up there in years now, I just hope he still has a few more left in him to enjoy a few more years of the Mullen era.

is if whatever crew is doing the tv game on Saturday would pick up Jack's broadcast for the last minute or so of the game.

Jack Cristil has been doing Miss. State basketball play-by-play since 1957. 50+ years in the job, that is unreal.

Here's hoping that Jack's health improves.

Knew something was up with the recognition the other night. His health has obviously been failing.

Jack was recognized with a fantastic video and a standing ovation. As the Alumna of the Year finished his own speech he asked Jack to help him wrap it up correctly, and Jack took to the stage to say, in his best voice in a while, "Well, that's another MSU success story. You can wrap this one in Maroon and White!" And it was awesome (some day I'll upload the video snippet).

Afterwards people were scrambling to get their pictures with him outside the ballroom while his family was gathering things inside the ballroom. There was a break in the action so we went to chat him up and get our pictures taken as well...when we were done I stepped aside to gather my things and looked back. Jack was standing there all alone, watching people leave. It broke my heart.
