If Jackie stayed, we would have disbanded the football program by now.

but those teams truly embarrassed the fans and the university. Not only were we getting blown out by the end of the first quarter in most games, but I think we led the conference in personal fouls and had no pride or direction at all. I can remember routing Jacksonville State after having lost something like 10 of the last 12 games, and the players started dancing and showboating after a couple scores. I was thinking, "You've gotta be kidding me." Embarrassing is all I can say.

So in summary, as pissed as I am at Croom, this team is no where near as bad as JWS's last squads.

discipline wise but one thing is for certain. Jackie Wayne would have fired Woodrow (assuming Woodrow was the offensive problem) before now. I'd go so far as to say if E.J. was running the defense and Morris Watts was running the offense we would be heading back to a bowl this year.

Crxxm has all the ingredients for a good team but the guy does not know how to put it together. Jackie made it work out in the late 90s. Crxxm has not been able to prove success in 5 years of coaching it is time for a new coach. The fan base is hungry and that has been proven by the results of last year. Byrne and the administration and the donors are seeing this and want to capitlize on what is best.

If Jackie had stayed theres no way we would be better. We would probably be on the death penalty or whatver it is that is the worst punishment the NCAA hands out.

would have been even worse than they were. By the end Jackie was just a hollow shell of the coach he once was.

jackie had coaches surrounding him, thats what made him who he is, not saying that took away from any of his accomplishments as a head coach, but its the truth. We had a staff that year.. Which is what you need.

you'd understand that JWS should have been gone after 02. That team was infested w/losers.

but it was always Sherrill running the show. No matter how many different OC's we had, we ran the same offense, so it wouldn't have mattered who were hired at OC.

And there's no way in the world we were going back to a bowl game w/JWS. Have you forgotten the horrific abomination that was MState football in 2002 and 2003? As bad as we are right now, we are nowhere near as awful as we were then. The remainder of this season might play out that way, but nothing was as terrible as those pathetic excuses for a football team.

Let's put the "Jackie would've had us doing better" arguments to rest.

that we should have kept JWS. God knows he was burnt out and on death row with the NCAA. Just stating that even though he was very conservative on offense, he would fire and hire to try and get the job done. I believe his last hire in Morris Watts might have been his best since Watson Brown, he just went nuts and hired the defensive equivalent of Croom in Ron Cooper on D.

But JWS was the one calling the shots. I know that we've had other OC's here who have good resumes from other places but ran the same stuff Sherrill teams always ran, and they ended up getting fired/replaced. Bruce Arians comes to mind.
