$2.5mil for year to sign with the barn. I'm assuming our salary cap will be $7.5mil for 2025.

Should have put ****

I heard sec podcast today say some sec qbs are getting close to five million and they expect Miami to offer John Mateer 3-5 million.
Like I said the other day, it’s going to come to a point where these big donors are going to say “enough” and this somehow gets under control. Until then it’s just utter chaos.

My cousin's step-mother's former boyfriend's coach can confirm the $2.5 million. Of course, Arnold had a few beers in him at the Hound before letting out the money talk to our insider.

17 it all.
I’ll watch and be happy when State wins but 17 some 20 year old getting 1mm dollars plus to play football and he has ZERO loyalty or desire to play 4-5 Years for State.
17that, 17 the 17-ed up system, and 17 the idiots in charge that thought this and the transfer portal was a 17-ing great idea!

I think these salary quotes for qbs are real. the bidding war for Mateer will probably be a record amount.

SMU raised a record $159 million during the 2023-24 fiscal year for athletics, including $100 million in just five days after the Sept. 1 announcement that SMU had landed an ACC spot.

Those record-breaking donations didn't just come from a few wealthy wildcatters. There were four donations of eight figures, 35 of seven figures and 82 of six figures.

By that fall, the Boulevard Collective signed every football and basketball player to standard NIL deals of $36,000 annually, according to On3. The Ponies have the payroll working again, and this time it's all aboveboard."

What is the point of this? SMU has many wealthy alumni and friends including old and new money. It is in Dallas-Ft Worth with over 7 million people including a number oil and tech billionaires and corporate sponsors. But I get your point, but SMU also wants to return to its former glory and admission to the ACC is a big deal to their fan base and this money is mostly ear marked for rebuilding their small campus stadium.

It depends on what he sings. A little Mr Brightside, some Trashy Women or Sweet Caroline, sounds good. Now if he’s trying Whitney, I’m not paying more than tree fiddy.
I’m wondering if it’s more of a true duet when he sings with the barn or if he’s the clear lead and the barn just kinda does drop ins. Like is this a Brooks & Dunn situation or is it more like Wham or Hall & Oates?

You also have to remember, that’s not all going to NIL. SMU is taking $0 in TV money for the better part of the next decade, so that’s going to include the operational cost of the athletic department.

He better rake it in now as he doesn’t look like an NFL prospect at this point.

So at this rate.. in a couple years CFB teams will have the salary the size of the NFL with players having unrestricted free agency and no contractual limitations. 2.5 million is almost what Mac Jones is making with the Jaguars and more than the base salary of Will Levis in Nashville.

This crash will be one to behold.

I think there'll be a reform in the next year or two.
