but we went around the Barnette becasue the traffic alert from MdOT said there was a accident. But the ice could be a problem.

it could be a few hours. The deicing trucks can't get to the stack because of the ice.

The south and winter weather - it's a volatile mix.

In case any of you are heading to lake Lincoln or hunting camps. Had a near miss there this afternoon

I know I'm and dubmass, but someone should suggest that the de-icing trucks simply drive backwards to the stack. (You know, de-icing the road ahead of them.)

Or maybe that's just how this redneck rolls.

Especially in a salt truck?

Also, as property of the state, do you want anyone navigating a 10,000 lb. vehicle using side mirrors only? Liability and ****.

when the side of the bridge of the stack is about 4 ft and that truck probably stands 15 ft.

Took me over 3 1/2 hours to get from downtown Jackson to Brandon (3:30 pm to 7:00 pm) and after getting home and seeing the news, I felt damn lucky.

but after seeing local news footage of the de-icing trucks spreading the mixture out BEHIND them, you have to wonder why someone couldn't have designed a better way. That seems almost negligent to me.

And realistically, no I probably wouldn't want to navigate the stack in reverse in a State of Mississippi maintenance vehicle, but in theory I still think it was a hell of a fun sounding idea.
