If they can manage to put together a season with over 7 wins then kids like this would be more likely to choose Rutgers. The local media will actually recruit for you. It would be a benefit to the program if they start winning this season. 28 NJ class looks elite,.I see he committed to Notre Dame the other day.
Did we have any chance with this guy ?
Do you know of any head coach that we could get for Rutgers that could have successfully recruited him here ?
I think you need to know the NIL numbers before you can answer those questions.I see he committed to Notre Dame the other day.

What I mean by that is the media coverage of a successful big ten season and all that comes with it. Idk if you remember the attention Rutgers received after the Louisville win. Not saying the local news will be literally encouraging recruits to sign with Rutgers. But a successful season in the big ten in the ny media market will give the Rutgers brand a massive boost in the area..The coverage is like advertising on the various platforms that cover your success..and in this area the local platforms have a large audience; it's different from local media at other schools. Some of the local platforms around here have a global reach. When has the local media recruited for Rutgers? Even after the few 7+ win seasons.
If I'm remembering correctly they changed the lights on the empire state building to red for Rutgers in 06. That type ofis even more impactful than schiano pulling up with the helicopter..
Yeah I'm not a schiano hater I actually am expecting a good season this year. Want to recapture the momentum Rutgers football had before Schiano parlayed that momentum into an NFL job lolThey did. And the message boards on the NJ Turnpike were flashing "Go Rutgers". But if IIRC the Star Ledger did nothing special. And it was strictly a one time thing. Oh, and by the way, Schiano was the Coach of the Year.
He never had any interest in Rutgers.I see he committed to Notre Dame the other day.

Plus Yankee Stadium had a sign on the marquee outside the stadium wishing Rutgers luckESB was in red the night of the Louisville game in 2006. Best live sporting event that I've ever attended. It was loud that night.
The RU Athletic Director Bob Mulcahy was friends with the owner of the Empire State Building Leona Helmsley, it had nothing to do with the media supporting RutgersIf I'm remembering correctly they changed the lights on the empire state building to red for Rutgers in 06. The empire state building being red is not an example of media coverage. It's an example of Rutgers brand exposure, as are the other examples people mentioned. It's not the media "supporting" Rutgers. The media will document the success of the program which is like a Rutgers football advertisement. I am not saying that the media will encourage kids to go to Rutgers. If Rutgers was losing they wouldn't have turned the lights red..The RU Athletic Director Bob Mulcahy was friends with the owner of the Empire State Building Leona Helmsley, it had nothing to do with the media supporting Rutgers
