They are still playing doody schedules in the ACC which isn't much of a step up from the old Big East (take out FSU and Clemson and what do you have?).

It's not his fault. If they didn't have him they might be .500. He's legit

Regardless of your personal bias concerning Lamar, those with an open mind think he is the single most talented player on any team this season!!!

It's a team game
Jackson is fine, its the dudes they surrounded him with. As far as Heisman I don't really care but I won't be upset if it goes to someone else

There appears to now be a significant talent differential between us and them. Their defense looked looked like New Mexico State against us and we seem faster at most positions.

They have a once in a lifetime player at quarterback and he is the only reason we didn't win this game by four or more scores.

The most interesting part to me is that their schedule was bad enough to put them in the playoff picture and create the illusion of a championship caliber team.

He is the most electric player in the NCAA. But I'm not sure a QB has won the Heisman where he lost 3 games that the opposing QBs played better than him in. Watson, Ward and Johnson could all easily be argued that they outdueled him.

I'd vote for McCaffery who should have won the award last year. A make up vote, I mean Lamar is the most electrifying player in College, he was beaten to pulp by Houston, he was beaten and I think the second best QB in the Clemson game this year, he had 3 TO's and one that cost them the game against UK. The reason he is going to win is because there are no other candidates even though Clemson's QB beat him head to head and he has beaten 1 good team in FSU. The games a Heisman player puts you over the hump he did not do so well.

McCaffery should have won last year and had a year that any other time would have won hands down.

That is why I am against expanding the playoff. I mean lets get real. In college football, you get past the top 3 or 4 teams, no 7 or 8 team is going to run the table to win it. It is still a game have and have nots. It's one thing to have some 4 and 5* players. But some of the schools have them 3 and 4 deep.

You put Jackson with a team that had talent at the OL and he would be, by far the best QB in a long time. He is one heck of an athlete, and what he has done a lot of time, he's accomplished without an OL. I have nothing but respect for the young man. From what I've seen and read about him, he is a class individual. Our wide receiver coach, Lamar, recruited him for UofL. I don't know why any UK fan would knock him. I can't stand UofL, but I'm sure not against ALL their players. Mtn cat1, I agree with you 100 percent. Our game plan against UofL was to contain Jackson. With any other QB, we would have beat them by at least 3 touchdowns.

Jackson with an OL isn't much if any better IMO. He is most explosive creating on his own when the play breaks down. An OL that keeps him protected in the pocket is keeping him from doing what he does best. I think ULs OL did fine in the planned running game and open up lanes for him.

Obviously the OL should do better than the Houston game, but idk if some studly OL is really going to improve his game.

1 & 3 a very telling stat and one I did not realize. Lamar is a rare talent! Three Heisman poses were a bit much. Wonder if Lamar playing for Bobby Petrino who is not popular with his peers will affect his chance of being selected for the Heisman.

He will be judged not if he can make a play out of nothing. He will be judged on being able to make an NFL throw. I personally don't think he is as far along as Cam Newton or Jamies Winston, Mariotta or the kid in Seattle. I think he can make throws but he is going to have to be able to throw at the next level. He is not a great thrower.

Kid put up video game numbers. He had more rushing yards than most RBs in his conference and was second in passing yards (I think). Kid can do it all. If the trophy truly goes to the best individual player in the country then he has to win hands down. I despise UL with everything in me but he is what he is. That's the best player in the NCAA.

He may deserve it but people only remember the most recent performance. Jackson will be doing whatever he wants this Saturday while Clemson's QB has another chance to put up record numbers.

Got those numbers on a lie against bad teams. He's a top 15 player in college but by no means is he a heisman winner.

Lamar Jackson aint thaaaaaaat great. He fumbles...a lot...and the NFL hates that trait more than anything else.
He throws '' bad interceptions'' when he throws them. The NFL hates that trait 2nd most behind fumbles.
Both of these traits are shown 10 times worse in the NFL. All the players rip for that ball 100% of the time and hit hard as hell. A college fumbler will have issues imo.
QB's who throw the .. 'why the hell did you throw that'... type of interceptions don't last long with NFL team fanatics!

Jackson is a great talent, I don't think he will play QB in the pro's because he has a tendency to run right now and that will get him hurt. All of the other hopefuls are good too, and I would say Jackson has better numbers and also more turnovers than any of the rest of them. I'm not sure he has it locked up yet.

Jackson has been the most dynamic player in all of CFB this season. I thought he was a bit overly demonstrative with the heisman pose, signaling for 1st downs while laying on the ground etc etc. I have watched him a few times this year and he hadn't been quite so, "look at me." However, the heisman is his and rightfully so. He's been special this season. Remove him from UofL and what do they have 5-6 wins tops?

Kind of off the topic of the thread, but I cannot remember his recruitment. Can anyone remind me how his recruitment went? Obviously he ended up at Loserville....

Louisville began to be exposed as the season went on. Jackson, while no doubt an amazing talent, has a very poor record against good teams. That really tempers my enthusiasm for him being the Heisman favorite.

With that being said, he has put up Heisman numbers and there is no doubt about it. I have no problem with him getting the award.

They play Kentucky's schedule THIS YEAR and he is not even in the talks and in all honesty, would Johnson be in the talks had they played their schedule... IMO the Clemson QB should be the front runner or Jalen Hurts IF a QB is to win it. Not saying Jackson is not a good QB, but saying Louisville may have screwed him with that cream puff schedule..

I despise UL to the core, but Jackson is an outstanding QB who will probably be the number one NFL pick. Having said that, Johnson was the better QB yesterday.
He may well be the No. 1 pick in a draft. If so, he is likely to severely disappoint.

That record is more an indictment of the UL team than it is of Lamar Jackson, he's the real deal!!!

Paul Hornung won the Heisman while being ion a 2-9 team. I am. It sure if Jackson wins it or not I think a lot will depend on how the Championship games go.
