is involved with this kid. Why anyone would let their son get involved with that slick *** clown is beyond me. I'm sure he is a smooth talker though and the Jones ate up every word he said.

And for a few hundred thousand more than the Astros' initial offer.

but why would Boras tell him to turn down a 7 figure offer as the 8th pick in the draft?

Boras made sure that he either got first round money in the first round or fell much much later in the draft. Jones turned down the money that Boras ensured he would get, so he fell in the draft.

If the guy isn't going to take 1st round, top 10 money, then why on Earth would anyone draft him in rounds 2-whatever.

Boras is known for being problematic when in comes to the sign-ability of players. He plays hardball and will have the player holdout for more money. He advised the Jones family to turn down seven figures and holdout. The Astros then waited to draft him and now he will probably sign for less than initial amount or head to LSU.

He can only improve by seven spots and alot can happen in three years. You can go to college instead of the minors when you are drafted in the tenth round, not the eighth pick. If boras is involved, he will most likely be signing a contract.

DeMarcus Henderson "50/50" on signing
43rd Round pick DeMarcus Henderson is 50/50 on whether or not he'll sign:

Henderson was excited about the selection. “That is a huge deal to be selected out of high school,” Henderson said. “It just goes to show you that hard work pays off.”

Henderson is supposed to be meeting with Astros officials today to determine his next step. “I’m 50/50 right now on my decision,” the Mississippi State signee said. “There are still a few things I need to do to polish up my game, but if the money is right I may have to give the Astros a chance.”

And there's a good chance he won't be. Projecting baseball players out of high school is a pretty big crapshoot. Lopez is right. Boras's plan is to get him a bigger contract offer than the one the Astros offered him last week.

Now I realize he still has time to sign, but I swear I've never seen a school get more lucky than LSU when it comes to high school signees or underclassmen turning down MLB.Also, he can take the guaranteed money now and if baseball doesn't work out he can still get a full ride to whatever school he wants. At least that's how it works for virtually every other high draft pick. Chris Low also reporting Zach Lee will likely pass on MLB and play football at LSU. Again, take the guaranteed cash, if it doesn't work out you can play football later.
