Was at the game last night and tonight. Jake had multi-hit games in both and made a great catch tonight on a De La Cruz line drive. He also took the time to sign my kids jersey and take a picture after the Friday game. Extremely grateful to him for that considering they had lost and he didn’t have to stick around. Wonderful Ambassador. Made my kids birthday trip one to remember.

To be clear, it would be tied for 5th best in the NL…..if he had the minimum plate appearances required. But since he (and the majority of MLB hitters) do not meet the requirement, he doesn’t get listed in the official stats for “individual championships”.

Say all that to say, there are a few more .300 hitters than you’d think from just the content of that tweet, but not that many more.

Again, MLB needs to look at lowering this requirement. It severely punishes players who get hurt for any amount of time. For context, Jake has played in 80% of Pittsburgh’s 112 games, missing only around 10-11 games while injured. He would need 189 PA’s in the remaining 50 games (average of 3.8 PA’s per game) to meet the statistical threshold for all the official rankings. Basically, he has no chance.
