I’d love to build around, JJ, Lowe and Chandler add in a solid incoming freshman and a portal stud. I’m hoping we can get Williams back as well but could be wishful thinking.

What about Malachi Moreno?
Of course they will take millions again if Pope is gonna pay em. We pay premium for injured players.
If we get a top 10 guard it will be Jordan Smith. I don’t think we get Caleb Holt and definitely not Brandon McCoy.
I do believe we will get a wing or forward. Unfortunately Stokes is a long shot but Christian Collin’s is a good possibility.
We need to return a core of 6+ people. JJ, Chandler, Lowe, Jelavic, Hawthorne, Moreno and Potter would be a good start. Then possibly Williams, Garrison and Noah. Bring in a freshman or two and 2-3 portal guys. People don’t realize we could return 8-10 ppl and there’s not a ton of room then. I’m okay with that as long as we add 2 high level players to what we have either from the portal or high school.
lowe seems like a good kid. always positive, always supportive of his teammates. wish him the best in his recovery.

I agree. I hold out a small amount of hope that we get maybe 1 top 20 guy, but it's not looking good.
Once surgery and rehab is done, it will be a much lower chance than it is now. But yes, that's true of any injury.
We probably need At least 4 point guards next season at the rate they get hurt!
We need a good PG to have a chance next year. If Lowe wants mop up duty in the non-con, run it back
He should come back. Sit out again. Come back and just continue the process until the end of time. He can be our udonis haslem.

We are not going to get any top RECRUITS or TRANSFERS if the jmi contract is not amended or changed to deal with the current NIL landscape.Pope also has to hire a General Manager to close the deal with players and agents.
That’s what the surgery is for. To help fix the problem.

I've never seen anyone suggest that Caleb Holt is a good high school PG. Actually, he's often listed as a SF (in addition to 2G).

Udonis Haslen played 130 games in 4 years at one school. He can be our Kerr Kriisa maybe.
I think anybody understood what I meant. I’m assuming you’re talking facts about his college career? I’m talking about him being allowed to sit on miamis bench for 20 years.
A lot of leveraging in those comments by Papa Lowe. Shrewd negotiating technique, now he puts pressure on the coaching staff to pay or it makes them look like they lost someone that wanted to be here. He also played the “high demand elsewhere” card. Gotta respect the game — this man ain’t playing around on this stuff lol.
Lowe didn’t really prove he deserved a premium next year though. I like him but he is still an unknown as far as can he compete against high level studs.
I think this will come down to money, how much have we already paid him? How much would we save by moving on?

Eventually you have to cut losses, unless we get him on discount next year and he has to know we are going for another pg and he may have to fight for the starting role and he probably isn't ok with this.
I wonder if these contracts have any injury or playtime outs in them, like we are paying for performance and IF you get injured or refuse to play you only get a certain percentage or the contract is void.
You get a severence like any other normal worker would we move on.

Unfortunately NIL can't be performance or games played based by rule. There has been some attempted work arounds, like multi year deals with known injured players where NIL is backloaded to year number 2. But NIL is the wild west still, so nothing is set in concrete either.

That’s awful and a recipe for more of the same. Chandler is a role player. His a liability ball handling. Lowe’s liability is he can’t shoot. Chandler I’m ok keeping because we plug him in off the bench at the 2 or 3 as a Spot up shooter. JJ has a boatload of potential but i don’t think pope is the right guy to bring it out. As for cam Williams why is that wishful thinking? His dream was to play at UK. He was our first signee. IMO he’s the guy we want back the most out of those 4. Lowe needs to go though. He is jamming up our team. His presence doesn’t make our team better and it’s not just the shoulder.
This is the problem with pope continuing to coach. Expectations are historically low. When fans think “building around Lowe, Chandler, JJ. No no no. We need to build around elite players. Super studs. More of what we have isn’t going to propel us to the top 5. And if pope is here for. 3 rd year it will be final four or you’re out with pope. I mean if the season starts rough you fire him early and start putting feelers out. Pope can’t miss this time around on the elite players. We need a couple lotto pics and another first rounder then players with nba talent.
As PG 1? Nope. Shoulder makes him unreliable. As PG2 that could work. He'd have a year under Coach. Depends on if he can complement PG1. Come in and be a playmaker for himself and others and less of a shooter. We don't need him taking more than one or two shots from 3. Needs to be a facilitator
I wouldn't want Stokes anyways. Seems like he would not be good for team morale and would ultimately do more harm than good personality/behavior wise. While we need players, that's one I would avoid like the plague.
