Good hire. I always thought Mullen would be a good fit there too.
Yeah. Franklin should get VA Tech back to ACC contender status consistently.

That would be a fantastic hire for Va Tech. I would have expected him to wind up at one of the bigger name openings.

If I were Salmon, I'd fire Lebby this morning (and I like Lebby and think he's got the program headed in the right direction) and hire James Franklin.

It sounds like Franklin is playing footsie with Va Tech and stalling to commit while waiting to see if a better offer materializes
The SEC is too busy cutting each other's throats . It just "means more" that way.
He is a very average coach. His rosters were loaded and his record against ranked opponents was bad. He would flounder at a small budget school.
Arkansas doesn’t have NIL money. They also don’t have any in state talent. Their AD should be on the chopping block for not raising money for the most important sport on campus. They are going to struggle to make a hire. Gus being a home town guy may save them from a terrible no name hire, but they aren’t going to compete until they start prioritizing and raising money for football.
It’s a different era and he would struggle to win anywhere without money (like any other coach) but he won at Vandy so he has already proven that he can win with less talent. Now maybe that doesn’t translate to winning in 2025 with less talent, but he has done it before. He won at Penn State at the same level they have been winning for 30 years. I think they better hire Dan Mullen up there or they may end up with a pretty big downgrade from a guy who won 10 games a year.

Maybe. That would be surprising to me. He could almost certainly do better given all the current openings.
Pretty small town to have two Target stores. No idea what "standby for home goods" means though. Maybe not the kind of Target Megan's looking for. They even have an Ace Hardware. **
He won 10 games a year. Thats about where they recruit. He isn’t Nick Saban by any stretch but he’s a very solid coach.
I agree, mainly due to his appearance. Guy has a generic face and being bald doesn't help. Needs to bring the wig back
