James Meredith says God sent him as a prophet, like Moses

I've heard Meredith speak on a couple of occasions. Given what I've heard him say before--for example, that part of his motivation for enrolling at Ole Miss was to restore honor to his Native American ancestors--the Moses remark isn't surprising. Let's say he doesn't lack for self confidence. He's an unusual guy. You probably have to be to accomplish what he did.
He is indeed an unusual guy. Think he worked for Sen. Jesse Helms of NC for a while. Sen Helms was the only senator to vote against the holiday for Martin Luther King, which holiday was subsequently approved and signed by President Ronald Reagan.
