6’4” Egyptian player Jana El-Alfy will apparently be on an official visit to Louisville on Monday according to TOS. She averaged 18.7 points and 10.3 rebounds a game in the 2021 FIBA U16 Women's African Championships. Her father is the Egyptian Women’s National Team coach. I would think CJW’s has a relationship with him due to his affiliation with Team USA Basketball. She’s apparently visiting Cincinnati as well. I like our chances here.

If have heard of her. Might be worth the chance. Again, you can’t teach height that’s for sure. If she can bang inside and rebound she can probably get minutes.

She looks impressive, it amazes me how wide ranging our recruiting is from coast to coast to international. I remember when it was mainly regional.

I think those clips are old too. A player like that he would probably want to RS and she could get more up-to-speed.

We have not done well with redshirts…. Hopefully she’s good enough to contribute right away….

I’d say Kianna Smith did very well after her redshirt. Besides who mentioned redshirting Jana?
I did. I said that because she would be coming from overseas and her daily competition might not be very good.

She plays internationally. With Liz graduating after next season, I would think she will play as a Freshman.

When Dunham was here he had wanted her to RS and she didn’t want to. CJW stated had she RSd he thinks she could have been an AA.

She’s 6’4 but listed as a small forward on the Egyptian roster, she also shoots 3’s at 41% (at least during the African U16 tournament she did)

Will be interesting to see how Jeff utilizes her skill set if we get her to commit.

Would she be in the mold of a Kylee Shook who plays down low but can step out and shoot 3’s, or will she play more like Emily Engstler on the wing and be a matchup nightmare for opposing forwards.

Glad to see us looking for some height regardless

I like height, but I love those who can jump. I have seen too many tall ladies who rebound as a result of simply raising their arms up in the air, or use their girth for position. I will take a few more 6’1” Emily Engstler over those taller ladies who have very little athleticism.

I agree on the jumping part you would think that they would start doing jumping drills on rebounding and blocking shots. If you could do jumping drills and get the team to buy into it you would have a huge advantage over your opponents.
