Well, they just went from the Penthouse to the Outhouse income wise I would

Does this conclude the argument that she is a gold digger? I can't imagine anyone wanting to marry the guy after that beat down.... Unless it involved millions of dollars.

I mean... She's got an heavy interest in this deal, she has a right to her opinion (no matter how stupid we think it is).

If only Ray had pushed the button to his floor we may have never known of this..

But he didn't and now his career is basically over, he is married to the woman that he chicken shitedly knocked out, and his money will dry up very quickly. This isn't going to end well for them. She will dump him within the year and again what everyone in America thought was a stand up dude, role model for our kids turns out not to be. Who knows if this was the only instance he has ever hit a woman and maybe the only time he ever does, but in the eyes of nearly every person in this country now he is an abuser.

Michael Vick has a job in the NFL. Ray Rice will have one in the future as well. Perhaps I'm wrong, but at some point I imagine a GM of another team telling us the importance of second chances.

I think she's an idiot, but now the media has made her a double victim. She still got beat up and now she's gotta worry about money too. If she's fine with it, why should I care? I feel sorry for women that get beat once, but I no longer do if they stick around for more

We don't know the story from that night at all. There is NO EXCUSE to ever hit a woman unprovoked but if you see them as they are coming to the elevator she appears to take a shot at him, they get on the elevator and it appears he swings and misses and then she comes at him and he Knocks her into next week. They had both obviously been drinking which is never a good thing if there is an argument And he clearly wasn't thinking at all. I mean what was he doing after he hit her and she's laying there? He picks her up and puts her down on the floor in the lobby, gets her shoe out of the elevator, and pushes her legs out of the way so the door could close. Doesn't appear to give a **** if she's dead or alive.

If he's sober and a woman beater he is pushing the close door button and his floor to get her up there and take her in the room to wake up. I think he was blitzed and didn't have a clue what he was doing. No excuse whatsoever but he had to be right?

What would concern me is that Rice seemed to be declining a little. Michael Vick was still really good.

she would be wise to get out while he still has money and take half of it with her. I don't know if this guy will ever play pro sports in the United states again.

Many, many victims stay with abusers. If you've ever had the unfortunate experience of knowing a situation like this, you'd know it's not uncommon at all. "Gold digging" has nothing to do with it.

You got it wrong man. Trust me.

As a criminal defense atty, there are many victims like her. Domestic violence is a cyclical process. Some victims simply rotate abusers throughout their lives. I've had victims have their face crushed. I've had a victim have their nose bitten off. I've had a victim have her nipple sliced off. All three of these victims wrote a letter to DA and judge saying that it was their fault. They lied to police about what happened. It was an accident, etc. My clients don't have ANY money.

Disagree completely.

That's where you should have ended your argument. I don't care if she lunged at him, or deserved it, or asked for it. There is never an excuse to hit your wife, girlfriend, etc. Oh but alcohol was involved? Who cares? It's still murder if you kill someone while you're drunk, and its still beating your wife/girlfriend if you hit her while you're drunk.

if what Vick did to those dogs was on video somewhere

he would not still be in the NFL.

Its not like Ray Rice is the first NFL player to ever hit a woman...just the first one to get caught on video.

Good points by both cookie and rugb (Yes I said rugb) that I didn't consider.

They are most likely right. I still have to wonder if the amount of money involved plays any part of this. Money changes a large number of people.

Just to be clear, are you saying that they should both be charged with at least an attempt at domestic abuse since there is now evidence that each played a part in this, or are you saying that only Ray should be charged since he is a man and/or a professional athlete?

If it's the former, I fully agree 100% with it along with the concept that there is never any excuse for it. If it's the latter, however, I fully disagree

This is absolutely accurate. The public sees the crime = everything escalates

he would not still be in the NFL.

Its not like Ray Rice is the first NFL player to ever hit a woman...just the first one to get caught on video.

As bad as Vick got it handed to him, no doubt that a video of him forcing dogs to kill each other would have resulted in an even harsher public backlash (and probably longer jail time than he got).

Hell look at how Rice went from 2 games to probably never playing in his life, just because everyone finally saw what he did.

Hijack... Since it's been established that men should never commit violent acts towards women, should we not allow women to participate in war?

You could go down the list of the "if the public saw the video" scenarios

if there was a video of Donte Stallworth drinking, getting high then killing that guy he'd still be in jail. Instead he got 30 days in jail and a year suspension.

honestly part of me WANTS to feel the slightest bit sorry for Rice...he is not the first NFL player to ever lay his hand on a woman and he wont be the last. He sure as hell is the first one to get it on video.

Is that a serious question?

Or are you just completely dense about domestic violence?

I know there's a difference in that one knowingly puts herself in dangers way.

I do think that if a woman goes back to the same man after domestic violence happens then she knowingly put herself in dangers way.

This is ridiculous. Of course there are situations when it is okay to hit your wife, gf, or any other woman. Obviously, Rice's situation was not one of those, but don't overreact and make extreme statements.

Also, to play devil's advocate, wasn't the fiance also charged with assault here? Not saying she should have been, but that is what I read. If so, that is probably why the DA allowed Rice to plead this down, because good luck getting an assault conviction against a guy who raises self-defense as a defense after you, the DA, have charged the other person with assault as well.

Nor the first Ravens player to hit a woman..

Terrell Suggs punched his girlfriend in the neck and then dragged her alongside a car he was driving while their two children sat inside.
In December 2009, Williams alleged Suggs held her down on the floor, poured bleach on her and their son and kicked her in the face, breaking her nose, according to The Sun. Williams also claimed physical abuse dating to the start of their relationship in 2007.

She has since married his ***..
Crazy...

She should just say what she really wanted to say

She should have shortened it up and said she will gladly take a punch now and then to not have to work while driving new luxury vehicles, going to the best salons, living in a nice estate, and wearing expensive jewelry. That's much better than living with someone non abusive in a 3 bedroom ranch with a 4 year old car and having to work 8 to 5 in downtown Baltimore.

But I'm afraid it is. Let me clue you in on something msstate7. If a woman wants to choose as her profession to work for the armed services and defend her country with the threat of being killed or hurt, they have that right. If a woman with no weapon but her hands screams at you, hits you, kicks you, even pounds on you to the point your ***** *** gets hurt you know what you do? You 17ing take it like a man. You NEVER hit back. End of story.

And if she comes at you with a knife, you die like a good man.

And if she is beating your kid to death, you try and stop her with everything but a punch.

I said "with no weapon but her hands". I said, she hits you, not your kid. You know, the way things went down with Ray Rice. Learn to read, process, and try to reply correctly. Makes it easier on the rest of us.
