So yesterday Yates was in and Pierre was out, now today Pierre is in and Yates is out?

Wake me up when we finally get a good source about anything happening with the portal.

Pierre or Yates???? I like the fact that Yates is a freshman and 6'4"/220#. I like Pierre's rebounding and SCORING. So IMO it's first come first serve. I was not sold on Pierre as our PG but since we have Lowe....come on down.

How will one of these two and Oweh play together? We do keep Oweh don't we?

Yates has a funny release. The kid from Tulane we got does to so I want Peirre to buck the trend

His dad was a hell of a baseball player so you can see where he gets his athleticism. Pierre and Alvaro answer our 2 biggest question marks. I like many others would like a passing/defensive center. In my mind when we came so close on Gwath was he center #3 or were he or garrison gonna play the 4? Makes me think it’s possible we still add a big other than Alvaro

Mgbako has until today to accept Kentuckys offer and that’s holding up Alvaro committing here according to the discord. I say move on and just go get Alvaro
I swear, he’s a better pickup for our roster anyway. All we need is the staff to pussyfoot around and lose him over it.

Why does it matter that he is a freshman? He won't stay until he graduates if he is that talented

I’m still surprised it got far enough that Mgbako visited. He still has time to prove that he’s gonna work and not waste all of his talent just always felt we could do way better. I think we have plenty of 8-15 mpg players as it is now. Couple starters like Alvaro and Pierre or Yates and you are creeping up to 13 players. So if you don’t play Noah or Perry at all you still gotta find minutes for 11 players.

I keep seeing people say he is Juan Pierre’s son, yet his name is Jaron Pierre Jr. So until I see a link I’m calling BS.

A quick google search leads me to believe his dad is deceased. Not sure how the Juan Pierre’s kid thing got started.

I don't like Kam at PF

He has size and athleticism in SF

But in PF, he is undersized and skinny
We have 2 bigs. If we sign 1 more we have 3! 80 minutes for 3 bigs?? Foul trouble??
But we have people thinking we need to spend more money on another guard! We have a competitive backcourt, but our front court is a long way from being competitive.

If you have money to get Pierre/Yates, why in the world didn't they offer Yaxel 4 mil??

Yaxel fills a bad need and puts your frontcourt on the map. We can sign the Spanish PF and we still don't have enough depth rim protection and rebounding. JMO

Rather have 2 for price of 1
Yaxel probably in draft, can't take gamble

Small ball and pressing defense
However, in many cases, especially during SEC matchups and tournament games, the games are slow-paced, physical, half-court battles, where small-ball lineups often get physically overwhelmed.

I have no problem getting 2 for the price of 1. Except Yates isn't a SF much less a PF. Like the poster said above,I'm really wondering if we will play more small ball and push the tempo. TT/Houston both play 6'6"-6'8" at those positions.
You will need 2 more for the 4-5. Unless you plan on small ball!

Other thing is oweh might decide coming back will not improve his draft status enough to come back next year.

I don't know what scouts are saying.

I'm just trying to make sense of them going after guards when we need bigs. Whatever these pieces would cost imo you would be better served to put that money to upgrade your front court big time! Throw that money at someone who matches the bigs we face. You watch the last 2 weekends, you will notice those who had and who didn't have in the front court!

And it could be they are in contact with a big that we are unaware of.
