I don't remember him being good enough to being a step away from the majors. Am I forgetting something? Not saying I am a great judge of MLB talent.

Sometimes a guy ends up in the right organization

I don't remember him being good enough to being a step away from the majors. Am I forgetting something? Not saying I am a great judge of MLB talent.

He was only hitting .232 in AA with 44 K's and only 19 walks, so don't sell yourself short. But it might be that the Rockies aren't a very deep organization and they felt like he was the most deserving and ready of their guys in AA.

The Rockies also called up Alan Johnson, another former Bulldog, and I never thought he had a prayer to make it. His ERA was over 5 in AAA before his call up, and he pretty much got shelled in MLB.

Back to Jaron- he can run and he can defend, and he can play all three outfield positions adequately. He might get a cup of coffee in MLB next year as a role player.

What's crazy is Ed Easley is hitting .345 with 6 home runs for the Diamondbacks AAA team and they called up the other catcher a few weeks ago. Hopefully they will call him up in September.

Jaron reminds me of Adron Chambers, another MSU guys that played fall ball at MSU but never actually played in a real game. Kind of interesting that we could have 2 MLB players that were either below average players at MSU or never actually played in a game at MSU.

I didn't realize Chambers was ever on the team at MSU. I thought he was football only and played baseball in JUCO after transferring.

The Winter before he left, he worked out with the baseball team during the Winter and played in the first 2 or 3 scrimmages of the Spring. People thought he had ability, but was so far behind the other players, due to not playing, that he wasn't going to play. He left school a few weeks later.

I believe Chambers left in the middle of football season of 2006 after an arrest, right?

Chambers picked off the UAB QB in OT to help MSU win the game and then was kicked off the team the following week.

Yeah, I don't get why Easley hasn't been called up yet. You knew that guy was going to make it.

Jaron wasn't that great, but he was athletic and as stated before can play defense.

Is there a website that keeps up with MSU players in the Minors and Majors?

Matt Harvey's ERA after A wasn't stellar yet he made the minor league All-Star game every season and started the MLB All-Star game in his first full season. I know you know this but ERA = jack. I'm not a GM and don't claim to be so I wonder what it is a lot of them base their judgement on. It's definitely a job everyone claims they could do (sometimes do better) but very few people can actually do.

Easley wont get called up in arizona. They have one catcher there owed 10 mil this year and next and then 12-14 mil through 2017. And he's sucking. The other catcher was hitting over .340 in the bigs just a couple of weeks ago so i understand them not wasting a call up to lose one callup on ed.
Hes just in a ****** situation right now. They wont trade him either. They need to get rid of the $$ t the catcher position that is unproductive first and they cant get value for him right now

I agree with the right organization. A defensive outfielder can be very important to an organization because of a teams structure they often times slap their best 7 bats in the field (catcher and pitcher not so much) and I would much rather have the luxury of some guy whose livelihood is running down fly balls rather than hitting them. (Unless he can do both). When you pinch hit this overweight "all I do is hit" guy you better have a guy to put in his spot. Jmo

Ed Easley

I brought this up some time back. His offensive numbers are sick. His not being called up puzzles me. I do think he gets his chance soon. He might be a good trade token as well. His time is coming I do believe.
