...creates his own shot, absolutely money with his mid-range jumper, good defense and ball handling.

Too bad he screwed up his chances with us. He'd be a great use of a scholarship on this team.

by going to USM.

Having said that: Good kid. I'm glad he had a nice homecoming. His mother has worked in Dining Services here at the University for nearly 30 years. He grew up on this campus. Not sure that I have a point here. Just random information. Sorry.

..a couple of times during his time at SHS and while at our summer camps.

I never realized he transferred from USM.

...that he wasn't offered by Rick. He didn't qualify out of high school and went to a Prep School, got his grades in order, and then it came down to choosing between him, Jeremy Wise, Ben Hansbrough and Barry Stewart. Stew was a no brainer, because he was also a member of the Mid-State Ballerz AAU team, which also helped us land Jarvis. Ben was actually part of a package deal we offered to get both Tyler and Ben. We actually got Tyler and Ben to visit before Tyler chose to go to UNC. We then were obligated to Ben. We signed Wise out of high school, who is now at USM, but he either failed to meet SEC requirements or there was something about his transcripts that didn't jive, so he went to USM. I know this is convoluted, but that is how I understand it.

...I just forgot to mention Wise went to Prep School. We signed him out of high school, but couldn't sign him out of Prep School because I don't think he had the math required in the SEC. I think that is why George Washington also couldn't take him, but Southern could.

He played a season at USM, then transferred to EMCC for a season before finally landing at ULM.

and, while impressed thoroughly with outlaw's sheer athleticism, we all kept watching the guard that looked very good. it was of course hill.

The '03 Starkville High team was really fun to watch with Outlaw and Hill. Everyone knew Travis would be a pro, but Jarvis was a sophomore and there were nights when he appeared to be the best player on the court. Jarvis nailed an unbelievable 3 pointer fading to his right with a guy in his face in the State Championship game that forced overtime. We ended up losing in overtime, but I still remember that shot. Also, I remember thinking 'how in the #%** did we just lose to Vicksburg?' Outlaw was solid but quiet towards the end of the game, Hill just kept making shots.
