They have nothing but roster spots and they did not have a first round pick. Its the best pick you could ask for if you are in the second roung

Its awesome to see that he progressed enough to hear his name called, but he isnt ready for the NBA.
I saw him play twice this year, he is nowhere near ready.

I think he is as ready as he'll ever be. Definitely will play some in defensive situations and to bang around. Probably will average more fouls than points per game.

I said WILLIAMS. I saw WILLIAMS twice.

It would be hella impressive if everyone here saw WILLIAMS play a lot this year, as you suggest.

First as others have said, they've basically shed their entire roster to try and resign Wade + 1 or even 2 max type players. Meaning the bench is going to be cheaply paid - so his salary and lack of bodies to compete with for bench spots work in his favor. A draft pick always has an advantage over a undrafted FA if it's close.

Second Pat Riley has always like defensive post players who are a presence in the paint and Varnado qualifies for that

Third all he'll be asked to do is play defense if they resign Wade and do land 1-2 top tier FA's. The fact that he will probably never be even NBA decent on offense is irrelevant b/c if he proves he can play some defense he'll get a lot of run b/c they won't need him to score at all.

Looking forward to watching the Summer League on the NBA channel now.

He could be like the Birdman...sans the crazy hair, tons of tats, and history of drug abuse.

I will not be my life on it. I am pulling for SWAT to make the transition to the NBA. He is a tweener, too small to play center and no size or real offense to play power forward. (He can thank coach Stans for that). Hopefully he can bulk up, work on his offensive abilities, and make the team. Time will tell.

Even if the Heat don't get LeBron, I think they do get Joe Johnson or Amare Stoudemire to go with Dwyane Wade. Those guys can score, so Varnado can focus on what he does best - defend and rebound. I think he needs to develop that jumper on offense, simply because he'll get some open looks if he's playing with those superstars. They won't be throwing the ball to him in the post.

Plus, with the Heat cleaning house for cap space, they'll carry several minimum contracts on the bench. Hopefully Varnado gets one of those. Being a tweener may actually help, if he can be a decent backup at two positions - C and PF.

You are one of the most miserable human beings on the planet. Mad when MSU does good and pissed when you are proven wrong. Seems like a sad life to me but I guess in the funny farm it must be normal to you.
