Jarvis Varnado was introduced by new media relations dude Gregg Ellis for his defensive efforts. A few questions later, he was asked about his offense. "I just played my role last year," he said. "I've always been able to score, y'all just haven't seen it yet."
this type of attitude is good to see from the big man. good lord he would be one hell of an asset if he could start consistently scoring this year.

what i've heard is that the team this year is more of a TEAM, no individuality like last year with gordon. Will be interested to see what kodi augustus can do. He can shoot lights out just hope he's learned defense

we should have a lot more chemistry and the athleticism is there. what we'll have to overcome is experience, but that can be done. media picked us 4th in the west but i think considering how weak the division is we'll have just as good of a chance at winning it or finishing second. i think it'll come down to us and bama with lsu and ole miss hangin around just behind the lead.

I expect Dee Bost to come in and be the type of player Chris Warren was for OM last year (maybe better). Mix that with an improved JV, a more aggressive Ravern, a trimmed up Elgin Bailey, and from what I'm hearing Kodi Augustus is looking like he gets it....We'll be fun to watch. I think we finish 2nd in the West as well. A lot of our success will also depend on Stewart coming back healthy and being MUCH improved, we can't have the inconsistency he showed last year.

I have to say it sounds as if we will compete. They are getting me excited about the season and the football team is helping that out as well.

He can block some shots and play some defense, but he might be a little high in his offensive ability.
If we are counting on Jarvis as our go to guy on offense, then we are in big trouble this year..

we will be plenty athletic and I trust Rick will ingrain the defensive intensity. However, at one time, it looked like we would have Hansbrough (best pure outside shooter last year) and Hopson (high scoring incoming freshman) for this year and of course we lost both. Now we have to find some other consistent scoring options both in the post and from someone other than Stewart from outside. We have some possibilities but noone who has done it before.

Jarvis impressed me with his ability to score when he needed to... He's deceptive when it comes to his strength i think.

He has shown flashes of his potential on crucial games. The Memphis game he was shooting right inside the perimeter and draining them. And Varnado probably had the funniest 3 pt shot I have ever seen against LSU when he was standing at the top of the key and no one was covering him so he decided to throw up a 3 that bounced forever then went in. Everyone I was sitting around was losing their mind when he shot at first and then when it went in the reaction was priceless.

One of my favorites as well. I'm gonna put it back in my signature once basketball season starts. What am I talking about, basketball season might as well have already started...
