I never thought he was good. I get recruiting him being a Ky. legacy kid. All the bad parts of his game have always been there. One of the more inefficient players you'll see. Every area of his game is subpar or down right pitiful. No chance he can help your team if his shot isn't falling.

I also think Jasper Johnson has a long way to go, especially in areas some on here have already pointed out. But I don't think Johnson was necessarily "overrated" coming out of high school. The recruiting services rank players on future pro potential, not how productive they will be early in college. You can see how Johnson's offensive talent could lead to a higher ranking in comparison to a high school kid that might be much more ready to contribute right away (e.g., Mason Williams possibly).

His game is fool’s gold. He is a talented scorer, so it’s easy to be fooled into thinking he’s better than he actually is when you first see him have one of those brief scoring sprees.

But the more you watch him the more it becomes obvious that he sucks at EVERYTHING else besides scoring. Awful court vision, awful passer, awful defender, and can’t dribble against pressure.

Honestly he’d probably fit best at a little mid major like EKU or Morehead where he could be the No. 1 offensive option. Then his flaws would be better hidden and he could just focus on scoring points.
He doesn't suck at turning it over. In fact he's quite accomplished at it.

Wasn’t there a few people on here claiming that when Jasper got a real coach that he’d be great? 😂😂😂😂
To be completely fair, he doesn't have a real coach now.

But he's got his issues. Lack of strength and way too loose with the ball. And obviously there's a work ethic issue. Not to hard to understand given how some of his handlers and family tend to make excuses for him rather than giving him the real story and attacking his areas that need improved. He'll figure it out or he'll go down as one of those guys that never even came close to hitting his ceiling.

He will be transferring after the season to a Morehead near you.
It's funny. If he'd been humble and started somewhere like that he might have had a chance to play his way up and earn more. Now who the hell will take another chance on him?

Sorry, forgot Louisville exists. Duh. They're dumb enough to think they'd be showing us up if they brought him in.

I dont remember exactly what I said when I heard he found greener grass in duck land but it rhymed with "dont let that door his you in the *** on the way out". Can he score, sure. Can he do anything else the PG is supposed to do - HELL to the no. Kentucky got immediately better the day he left Lexington. I have no hard feelings toward him, his dad can kick rocks.

just 10min for a 2nd year 5 star on a team without much talent in an exhibition game you are supposed to win easily......thats not good
Whomever evaluated him as 5 star needs their head examined or refund the money to whoever paid them for that injustice. He's a average lower 3 star mid major player at best.

The young man was always pushed toward places with no structure and very little coaching. And zero accountability. He would have been much better served staying and playing HS ball in KY. Maybe someone there could have helped him instill a work ethic. He never played anything but glorified AAU ball. At this point he’s probably a lost cause.

I think you hit the nail on the head. 30-40 years ago Kentucky high school teams regularly beat some of the nation’s best teams because our high school coaches were big on teaching fundamentals. AAU is none of that and unfortunately has even negatively influenced Kentucky high school teams and coaches. I told my son last year that some of our JV teams in high school could’ve won the district against varsity teams now because we were actually taught how to play the game.

Jasper was not just bad, but like impressively bad. His lack of ability or production was a BIG reason for the disappointment of last season. If he had been even an above average point guard, like a tick better than Aberdeen at handling and distributing the ball, the ceiling for last year's team would have been significantly higher.

I understand his family said a few things. I am not going to knock the kid. I do think there is talent there. I think he has 2 problems he needs to focus on to be who he and his family thinks he is. 1) He must get stronger. He plays too weak 2) He is a 2-guard type player with a point guard body. He can shoot the ball and has potential to be a high-volume scorer if he can improve his strength.
He sucks like all Pope haters who are closet religious haters who should be banned
