I said I expect Jax at the Ironman for McCort. I also said in October look for Jax to graduate in December and depending on how 133 does that will determine if he enrolls or not 2nd semester. Him wrestling at the Ironman doesn't mean much he's on track to graduate HS in December. Time will tell what happens.

I posted that on Oklahoma st board over a month ago and it was immediately deleted and I was reached out to and told we are trying to keep it secret. I posted about it in other places as well

5 dates go until the dual season is over. You can't be unattached 1st semester. Remember Angelo wrestled Carter after Jan 1

Not all, but this one seems not to know he's a room guy yet (has been since last year when told us to "book it" only to be replaced by Ferrari).
Pretty sure Gabe arrived at the Hawk wrestling room as the next 4 time champion. As with most top notch recruits above 125 and 133 TnT developed him into a pretty solid room guy.
Watch most of Gabes loses and you see that he like most Iowa wrestlers has very solid defense... with very limited offense. His biggest problem however is his gas tank / which always seems to fail him in these close matches! I feel like Gabe Arnold to Pitt should happen... I know he is from UGA, but with PA HS ties. He would have a better career at Pitt... Heck... 174 Luca Augustine, 184 Arnold, 197 Stout and Pitzer at Hvy would be a very formidable back end of a roster !
Gabe was a very good defensive wrestler long before he went to Iowa..
Iowa seems to drain confidence more than anything. We all like to joke, but I think the wrestlers are actually much better than when they entered but they wrestle so tight it often times doesnt show.

dont disagree about them wrestling so tight. IOWAs lineup is very good and will have at least 8 AA and probably 2 finalists..... any coach would love to have that roster... But its crazy to think that may not be good enough to be top 3 right now!
I feel darn comfortable in predicting Iowa won't have 8 AAs. Despite existing talent, Ayala, Caliendo and Ferrari, I believe no finalists is more likely than 2.
Ferrari is a bit of a wild card for Iowa. If he matters and opens it up a bit especially against AA caliber guys he could definitely be a finalist.
Then again the book on him is only two pages long. Exceptional defense and that damned neutral from one knee (I think the one knee in neutral should get a 5 county then a stall warning, and that is said even though some of our guys do it from time to time), and the dive to the ankles as soon as someone is near to converting a single leg on him.
I hate the style, and it seems a waste of talent. He could turn into the Will Lewan of the Hawkeyes with a much higher winning percentage. Ugh!
Sooner or later some elite kid will figure out how to attack him and once known, the floodgates might open and he could see loses to all of the other top 3. If not then we may see a string of 1 point victories all the way to the finals.

Ferrari just dont have enough offense in my opinion but his defense is elite and therefore has a chance to upset anyone!

The last time Iowa had 8 AAs was 91 and they did it one time prior in 83. I guess to some this might appear to be the most talented Iowa team since 1991, or maybe the best prepared. I do not think so though. This isn't going to be the year the Brands boys have their best tournament team.
While Ayala, Caliendo, Ferrari and Kennedy are all finalist possibilities i don't see multiple of the four getting it done.
What are your takes on it being Jax Forrest senior night tonight at BMc? Another interesting note was Keegan Bassett at 133. Looks like he’ll be at 21 for Powerade.
And where should one go to engage in discourse about a niche sport such as wrestling as just a fan of wrestling, not any particular school? Presumably from its ubiquitous nature there must be a myriad of online sources for this.
"Some" means Herring and Forrest and mayyyybe Butler (though he wrestled at Ironman, so unlikely). Every other SR starter wrestled in their 12/16 dual.
