the national perception of the SEC West champion being a NCAAtournament team is ridiculous. I pretty much agree.

has anyone else seen I Come in Peace starring Jay Bilas as an alien cop (same Jay), Iwatched it a few months ago and I feel like he probably catches a lot of flack for it from the other ESPN guys with inside jokes. I'll certainly be watching/listening for them this year.

The thing I worry about is thateven though justifiedthe perception is out there that the SEC West is horrible and to get in the NCAA tournament a West team will either have to win the SECT or win at least 26 games. It is almost like we have a separate set of qualifications to make the NCAAT.

Last year Florida was no better than us yet got in based off of the East's reputation in spite of the fact that we just beat them 2 days prior to the bids going out.

Well there is a seperate list of qualifications. Consider the West a high midmajor conference. Seriously. As of late, we need to win a **** ton of gamesor the conference tournament because who we play is so damn terrible.Over the last fewyears when we get to play LSU, OM, Ark, Bama, and Auburn twicewhile the East powers only get those teamsonce and have tobeat up on each other twice...that just kinda sorta leads toa seperate set of qualifications.
Its the same damn thing all across college basketball. Its why some team with 26 wins can get a 12 seed...because they play terrible teams all year and they only made it because they won their conference tournament.

The West has been dominant before and it can easily change. College basketball is great because rebuilding takes such a short amount of time. But until that happens, the West is effectively a midmajor.

he is one of these "body of work" guys that weights December performance the same (crap, I think heavier) than March performance. I'm sorry, but if you are putting a national champ tournament together, and you are not basing selection and seeding on what is going on "right now", you are a moron.<div>
</div><div>this will apply to us this year by the way - in Bilas' mind, we could be able to beat the Lakers with Sidney and Bost in the lineup in March, but would be NIT bound, because we lost 3 games against inferior opponents in december - zero logic - he thinks a bit like some of these socialist politicians we currently have running this country.</div>

That's why I keep saying if we add a team to the west it needs to be Kansas. A patsy for football and instant credibility to the west basketball division.
