He must really hate Bilas if that's the caseI guess K asking Jay to speak to 4 of his last 5 Duke teams really illustrates his dislike huh?

The kid slapped the ball. That's a T in any level of basketball
I mute the TV when Len Elmore commentates games. I'm thinking about doing it with Bilas now. LolAt least it's not Elmore. I roll my eyes at Bilas 3-4 times per game, but Elmore actually makes me angry. It's the announcers whose names I don't know that I typically enjoy.
That was definitely an earned T. But it's one I don't hate the kid for. You get fired up at times and it was an alpha move. And you know what, it sparked them, especially Jackson. I don't think every game you should go around slapping balls out of people's hands, but it was no different that John Thompson telling Ewing to block or goaltend every shot for a stretch when G'Town was in the title game against Nova. Assert dominance at a cost.
I don't have an issue with his complimenting other teams or dogging Duke when necessary, but there are times like in '15 when he says things like "there's no chance these guys can beat ____ or win a national title", when in fact, he probably knows that they have a chance. He's doing his job and unfortunately part of his job involves his alma mater. Duke hate sells more than Duke love. It is what it is.
What's the over/under on what week it takes the first "Duke hated white player" article to come out?
I do not know you as a person, but this comment says that you have no idea what you are talking about in this regard. No wonder K isn't fond of him...
I caution anyone saying that they wish he didn't do any more Duke games though....because who is the alternative? I'd pick him over Len Elmore. I'd pick him over Dorris "Dribble Drive" Burke and a few others. Be careful what we wish for.

timo, I get all of that and agree with most of it but when you have to go over the top to not show Duke bias and actually end up showing bias towards Duke's opponent...is that being professional? I love Bilas and enjoy listening to him talk away from the announcers table. However calling games has gotten to be more about his agendas with refs rather than the game itself. Which is sad because in sports nowadays we are getting more opinionated announcers who really love the sound of what they have to say. Many times while the game is going on and they not commenting on that action.Another broken record is one of these threads every time Jay Bilas does one of our games. He came on the JJ Redick podcast a little while ago and actually talked about being comfortable in his skin and not showing bias towards Duke to maintain his professionalism. He was an excellent listen and talked about a wide range of topics. It reminded me of why he is the best in the business of College Basketball.
If you listen to him on that podcast and listen to him while he is calling a Duke game however, I think you're listening to two different people. I do think he goes out of his way, whether he does it subconsciously or not, to show that he isn't being biased towards Duke. He also goes out of his way to "stick up" for the refs, by claiming letter of the law. The refs took over that game yesterday. The sucked on BOTH sides of it. Duke benefited from a number of calls, the loose ball that gave Jackson a foul is one of them. But we also got hurt by BS calls. Long story short, I thought Jay was extremely annoying last night.

Yeah i am actually agreeing with you in my original post. I basically was saying that the Jay Bilas I listened to on the podcast with Redick, was not the same Bilas i heard during the game. The one that is fixated on talking about how great of a job the refs are doing and going by the letter of the law. He's extremely annoying. Completely. In the end, Bilas is part of the Duke family and he is okay with me, but I'd rather yell at Elmore than listen to Bilas call a Duke game.Yeah i am actually agreeing with you in my original post. wow, interesting take. I'd still rather take Bilas. I DESPISE Len Elmore and I"m ok saying that because he feels the same.Completely. In the end, Bilas is part of the Duke family and he is okay with me, but I'd rather yell at Elmore than listen to Bilas call a Duke game.
No question, but Elmore is real about it. Bilas having to go out of his way to not seem pro Duke is fake IMO. Not a huge fan of fake.wow, interesting take. I'd still rather take Bilas. I DESPISE Len Elmore and I"m ok saying that because he feels the same.

Might be the first anyone has ever heard of it.
unx fans , generally speaking , LIKE 'im. What does that tell ya? He never really bothered me until that afternoon he was on OTL and kissed Roy's ***. Williams had all those players return to serve as character witnesses. Jay said he believed Roy. That was pretty much it for me. Yeah , Bilas hates the NCAA ( Justifiably so. They suck. ) but he lets that animosity spill over into defending outrageously corrupt behavior. Re-watch that show sometime. When Jay says , "I believe Roy" he tilts his head back , nods some , closes his eyes and says it. Hope he doesn't play Poker because that's the worst "tell" I've ever seen. He'd go broke. He flat-out lied. Also , as the scandal has progressed , he's been on Twitter compounding his earlier error. IOW , #YouKnowHeKnow. I will say this for 'im. The Coach K impersonation is spot-on.
Look I like Jay Bilas and I like his commentary and take on a lot of things related to CBB. But I do find him to be too much when calling Duke games. I know he says he doesn't do anything on purpose one way or the other- trying to be too unbiased or too biased, but he's human. I do think when calling our games he does try and make sure he's not being partial to Duke and it shows. Overall though he is a great ambassador for Duke and the OP is so far off base on how K feels about him, his statement belongs in the THR thread of ridiculousness.
I don't care to listen to Bilas call Duke games, but Greenburg is the worst. It seems like he always takes a slight jab at Duke every chance he gets.
I like listening to Bilas. He is very fair to all teams and he hates the NCAA!
I wouldn't know! I have it on mute! Doesn't surprise me in the least thoughHe is already going out of his way to slurp on the Holes tonight. Haaaa
